Upgrading to TH8, and 9- your fresh meat. Seems odd but you go from a position of strength to a position of weakness. As you get stronger at TH8 and find a base layout that works, you will lose less loot. Try spreading out your storages, don't have them all juicy looking in the core. Make an attacker have to wreck your entire base to get all your loot. Also, if you are a new TH8 and have that much elixir, need to be upgrading troops or something.

Loot is there, is not that hard to find and keep, just follow this guidelines!

Hi there, I recently updated to th8.5 the 28th June before the update, had max walls but not max defenses (still working on my th8 defenses today xD). Today I have more than 50 legos, new AD going to 5, new tesla going to 2, army camps done, barbs and jump done, giants going and queen to 10. This is how my base looks today:http://imgur.com/a/KDT2y

I never ever had problems with loot and this little guide apply also at th8 (I had 348 mill farmed before my th upgrade in 5 months playing):

    • What I did was go to silver and gold and farm boosted. I tried to coordinate my boosts according to clashofclansforecaster.com to get the max from every session.
    • First of all and most important, leave the th outside and don't break your shield unless you are going to do 3 or 4 raids, that way you can profit close to a mill for each resource if not more and you can only get raided for 200-300.
    • I am using GiBarch with surgical hogs, the comp usually is: 8-12 giants, 6 wbs, 4-8 wiz (when boosted) and barch. I usually don't look for collector raids but if I find them i take them of course. With this comp you can really core dive any base, xbows or not, if you know what you are doing.

Why do people always recommend dropping trophies? Surely you want to give people an incentive?

If I see a base offering 300k elixir then I sure as hell ain't sniping at Gold for 14k

Im at Crystal 3 since I became 8, needed a few tries, but my now used layout works for me since a couple weeks.
Got full storages every few days (at least gold and elixier, not DE - but still 1k+ loot every time), way more income than I can spend - may I should farm less...
Got TH far outside, 7/10 are just sniping, the other 3 have to take a decision 2 gold and 1 elixier storage or otherside with 1g and 2e.
Not seen any TH8 farming composition taking more than that. Even half of the attacking mid TH9 GiBarchs struggeling hard to get more. On most (not sniping) attacks I lose about 100k gold and 150k elixier.
Also my DE is protected very well by pathing around it, and it's covered by about 50% of defenses and well trapped.

Seen also some Dragon and GoWiXX Raids failing to get more than 4 storages.

It's just a much about layout and learning the pathing the AI decides for.

Also it's about upgrade order of defense. Had some struggel with TH7s splash defenses, raised them to TH8s and everything got fine.
First I focused anti air by war reasons, after ADs 666 and all Archertowers 9 I decided to counter barchers, maxed out all splash, than did Archers 10 and cannons 9 and 10 last.

But as said, you need to farm in sessions and hope for snipers - from now on that will never change.
Make sure you exposed you TH right, may place some obstacles around to show its unprotected.
