I have recently started to use Hogs in war over Dragons at TH8. Although Dragons can get the 3*, they are not reliable and most bases don't suit it. But Hogs are ruthless, aslong as you get your heal placements correct it's an automatic 3*. Hog attacks seem so easy, easier than Dragons.
Anyone agree with me?

- At Townhall 8, maxed most of my defenses
- Maxing most of my troops out only a couple left
- Maxing Barbarian King out; nearly there
- Farming with Barch in Gold 3 - Gold 2
They're argueably better then dragons. Such as, dragons can be effective at level 1, while hogs need to be at least level 3 to not get insta-killed by Giant Bombs. But hogs are more reliable as TH8vTH8 then dragons provided they are leveled up.

Been adept with both will make you a more valuable member of any war clan. Leaves you better equipped to exploit a bases weakness.
Surprised how little hog attacks I see as a TH8. They always wipe me out.

Yeah totally agree with you. But it seems I'm attacking a lot higher than I should with hogs, I'm attacking number 4, and I'm number 8. But it sometimes works out as it pushes everyone down the pecking order in which base to attack.Originally Posted by daz258

When you hit TH9 and you fight other TH9's, Hogs become obsolete. So enjoy them while you can
Then you need a better base design. Make a few 4x2 open spaces between defenses and place a pair of giant bombs in them. That tends to scare away most hog attackers and will put a sudden stop to most of those that try. Even a single strategically placed giant bomb can wipe out a whole herd of hogs if they're just a bit low on health. Place it between a couple of wiz towers. Also, fill open spaces with spring traps to reduce the herd.

What? It's more difficult at TH9, but they're far from obsolete. You just have to take care of the AQ and avoid the second possible DGB.
