From Gold2 to Masters in 5 days as a Townhall 8... my observations.

Seems like Crystal is the breaking point league... To push or to quit.

Actually it's mid Crystal 2, my experience.
Starting around 2200 Trophies its getting very hard to barch on (as TH8), so you have to decide build up more powerfull armies or next-a-lot.


Farming and beeing Crystal 3 almost all the time since I'm TH8, (at the edge to 9 by now).
About loot I can disagree, been down to Silver 2 a few days ago, stayed there for about 4 days, also stayed iin gold area some time.
Income was equal in gold and elexier, but dark elexier was almost to zero, well just a very few 1k+ raids, okay.
But all over I get almost the same income in C3 (now and then 200k+ raids, 1k DE every few raids), actually I get a bit more since the bonus itself almost pays my farming troops + a 100 DE for free, so almost every raid is just making good numbers.
The biggest difference I noticed, in C3 it takes me 2-3 nexts more on average (for a good loot) than in G2.
been lucky yesterday, sniped about 12 halls in something about an hour, get mostly 1-6 trophys, but I'm out for the loot - so thats about 1.2k dark and 420k gold/elexier vs a few thousand elexier for troops

In masters, people usually snipe and go. Keep your TH out as it benefits everyone. Everyone in masters should put their TH out. And don't even think about winning defences. TH 8s will be crushed. So save your loot and trophies.

Nope, they'll just take the free TH then happily proceed to flatten the rest of your base for more trophies. Tried putting resources out as well, still got 3 starred every single time. Keep everything inside!
