From Gold2 to Masters in 5 days as a Townhall 8... my observations.

Going from Gold 2 to Masters in 5 days as TH8. It wasn't that bad.

Observations:

1. I was able to get to about Crystal 2 by boosting one dark barracks with hog riders (level 3) and boosting spell factor. Non-boosted one dark barracks and regular troops. I used barbs and archers to clean up.

2. A good clan. I switched clans a few weeks ago. I went from playing with my life long friends (who were active occasional players) to a hard core clan. When I got donations, I got troops in almost real time (1 level up because they were a level 6 clan). My other clan was level 4, and I was only getting barbs and archers. It was huge advantage, getting wizards and dragons and pekkas one level up.

3. When I got to Crystal 3, there was very few sniping. Crystal 2, it was very rare. Crystal 1, there was no sniping at all. The hardest part (and most frustrating thing) about Crystal 1 was that I had to next so many times. I was rare that I saw a TH8 that I could hit, and when I did... it was only for 1 or 2 trophies. So I wouldn't even bother. I was essentially forced to use GoWiPe on TH9s picking up the last 200 trophies to get to Masters. I was in in Crystal 1 for literally 3 days.

The formula for trophies is messed up big time. A TH8 that 2-stars a TH9 should get way more trophies than a TH9 2 starring a TH8. But for some reason, it's backwards as you move up leagues.

I heard several complaints about loot in Crystal... the bonus loot is very nice in Crystal, however, the people who are complaining that there isnt any loot is Crystal are right. There is no loot there. I was wasn't even looking. Saw a lot of 40K-70K bases, but with the bonus. That's a good raid IMO. I saw very few 200K bases. The 200K bases I saw were TH10s with Infernos.

Nice post. I had basically the same experience on my push. I'm a TH 9 so Crystal I wasn't as bad. You are spot on about the loot too. I have read posts where people rave about the loot in Crystal II but I barely saw any bases with over 200k loot. I collected my gems then dropped back to the lower leagues where loot is plentiful.

Yeah, I pushed there and saw no loot quite recently. For any other th8s considering pushing to masters I'd definitely reccomend barch. Just pick your base well, bring cc and lightning spells and you should get 1 stars up ther just fine. In my opinion it's a good pushing strategy as its efficient and fun to use.

The only thing, is that the formula doesn't account for town hall level or anything along those lines. It only accounts for trophies and the difference between the attacking base and the defending base.

The loot has always been horsecrap at the higher leagues because you end up having to run 100k armies to get 200k. I'll take a league with options for a cheap barch or a heavier elixir army anyday then a epeen badge.

In masters, people usually snipe and go. Keep your TH out as it benefits everyone. Everyone in masters should put their TH out. And don't even think about winning defences. TH 8s will be crushed. So save your loot and trophies.
