Life as A th8 Champion

Ok, so when I finally got golems and could practice my gowipe I decided to gowipe over and over again. This was all down in Gold 2 at the time and after a while I found myself in Crystal 1, easily passing my old trophy record of 2406 I achieved as a th7. I realized that I could push even higher than this and decided to get all the way up to Master 2. After keeping a steady trophy count around 2850, a friend of mine said that he would race me to champs. He is a th9 who's major strategy is lavaloonian and I am a th8 with level 1 golems and level 2 pekka. He was in Master 3 at the time and I thought that this was a fair race so I agreed. I pushed through Master 2 with no problem and Master 1 was the biggest challenge getting into champions (Duh, common sense right?) Well I had I pushed as hard as I could, easily leaving my friend in the dust. Master 1 brought new challenges, like 1 trophy offers on th9 I couldn't even 1 star and also getting wrecked by th9 in crystal 2 that could take upwards of 50 cups. I looked for over 30 minutes for a good raid and even then it only gave subpar cups. After a while of pushing slowly I finally made it to champs. I pushed a little bit higher and made it to my current record of 3239 cups. After that I was unable to find any good raids and apparently people down in crystal 1 can still raid me even though I'm in champs. They have taken upwards of 59 cups and have just wrecked my chances of wanting to push any higher. I want to go as high as I can go but I can't even let my phone screen timeout for 10 seconds without getting destroyed by someone who isn't in champion league. It just doesn't make any sense to me. I used to be able to find 40 cup raids in master 3 and 2. But all of a sudden the matchmaking has turned in favor of th9 and th10. So just saying if you are wanting to push to champ as th8, please be aware that it will be a challenge and that it's even harder to push higher than champs. Also be aware that you won't be finding many th8 at all and that you will need to bring a bunch of gold to next a bunch. I'm trying to push to go as high as I can go and I doubt I'll be able to make it up to champion league 2 anytime soon. Good luck with all your pushes guys. Just trying to warn you about what you should be in for as a th8 pushing to champs

Well that's because Champions (3200+) matchmaking is different than the rest
from 0 to 3199 you are mostly offered people from your same TH level. It happens that the matchmaking picks targets which are much lower or much higher in cups.
While in 3200+ cups it only takes into account the cups so you'll be offered people around your cups regardless of TH level

actually it should have been a revenge... I don't think a Crystal can find a champ in the clouds.

However TH8 and lower get oddball matches all over Master/Champs

Get used to the new matchmaking system. And congratulations, i was wondering how the new system will bode for the TH8's and lower who are trying to push! I made Champions as TH8 just before Matchmaking update 1, and enjoyed it for a week before the new system came in which basically forces all TH levels down. And now it assume the Limit has raised from 3200 cups to The Titan league as far as who can see you and who sees you.

In a way it really dissuades TH8's and lower from producing huge troop armies that take long to cook up anyway, when it is economically and better time making barch or whatever and nexting long time anyway for snipes, all the offers are usually 1-3 for a win. Congrats again, i dont think i will do it again until i have max TH9 troops and even then it will just be for the bonuses, i expect to get raided back down hard again.

Realistically TH8 should not be in champ league. The game has its way of working itself out.

It is because you are a th8. The amount of th8s above c2+ is very low so anytime a th8 goes looking for a base that high up yours will probably be one of the first one to pop up since there is so few of your th level up there and without shield. Also since you are in Champs and the MM was left the same there anybody can also find you when you log out from the max th10 and on down. The lower th's will find it a lot harder now to push to the top unlike in the past.
