Thread: The Purpose of XP Levels

    The Purpose of XP Levels

Still trying to figure out the purpose of SUPERCELL adding XP levels to the game when the have absolutely NOTHING to do with it. You dont earn anything for making it to higher ones (gold reward, DE, gems, etc), its not required to unlock anything, and there are no achievos whatsoever. Like yea, HOORAY, you made it to level 300, which was the same as level, 150, and the same as 50. This meaning that I can have all the same things at level 150 that I will at 50.

If anyone could explain the actually purpose of XP levels that would be great

At early levels they unlock various decorations, and eventually a PEKKA statue.

But yeah, outside of that they are really just a loose indicator of how far someone has progressed; or how much they have donated.

They literally do what they say: Show experience of a player.

No they dont. EXP is gained by donating troops even. Ive seen Lvl 154 TH4s before. You can go your entire CoC career and never donate troops, remain at a low level and still be as seasoned as a person lvl 200. It doesnt dictate anything game related or even govern what you can or cant do which is why I view them as pointless.

You need to spend real life time to gain XP (even if you donate), the more you spend time (without gemming), the more XP you get so it shows spent time which is experience.

You still get EXP for gemming so time is irrelevant

Exactly. I can gem from TH 1 to 10 and get the same EXP for doing the upgrades.

I understand the OP's point. I never pay attention to someone's XP point let alone my own. But I think it is human nature to want to have some kind of indicator of experience so SC created XP points. I promise you if it wasn't present there would be people crying for it. Plus it's nice to know how many trees someone cut down without having to look at their profile. lol

While we are on the topic of things that are not understood I have always wondered about the league members that I am assigned to. Why show 99 other people who have about the same number of trophies as I do? I can't talk to them, I am surely not competing against them, and I never even bother to look at them. Just give me a colored shield based upon trophies and leave the rest alone.

I think SC should make lvl more relevant by separating the lvl counter from donations. If donations were kept as a separate counter, the lvl would then show the real value of a base. Even better, I would go from 3 separate counters :

    - Base value (only based on defense and troop level, globally the way it's used to calculate your value in war)
    - Experience level (only based on your raids won or defense won)
    - Donations
