Try getting DE when you don't have a drill... that's how TH 7 use to be. Be thankful.

    ^Agreed.

I'm sure looting DE isn't impossible, even as a TH7. Of course, if you want to get straight up to TH8/9s' DE storages and Barch a couple thousands per raid, that's most likely not going to happen. Just be patient, even if you only get fractions of what higher THs seem to loot easily, you also only need that much less DE for your upgrades.

I, for one, am really glad they got rid of that "feature". Zapping is still there, they just adjusted it to be used for actually strategic ends. Besides, TH9/10s don't farm DE to spoon feed fresh TH7s.

Oh look, someone doesn't know how to read.

Getting a decent amount of de at th7 is impossible. SC needs to nerf thr amount of DE needed for the early upgrades for minions hogs and king.

You can steal 75% of what's in the drill. A max drill holds 1800 and has 1160 HP. That's 1350 available for stealing in a max drill.

A level 5 lighting spell does 420 damage, level 4 does 390, meaning 3 lightning spells can pull the full 1350 from a full max drill even at level 4, and at level 5 you can probably get closer to 1500 by dropping them on 2 or more different drills. That's actually more DE than you could get from storages when you could zap them.

In level 5 drills there's only 920 available to steal, but at 1060 HP you'll get slightly more from each zap, so you're still looking at around 350 per strike on a full drill, which is still more than you got hitting storages.

But again, it's more cost effective to raid than it is to zap.
Recently just searched clash of clans wikia (wiki)... Thanks for reminding!

Except plenty of us managed just fine without complaining when TH7 didn't even get a drill. The fact of the matter is there is plenty of DE out there that TH7s can get, not just from drills sitting outside the core of a base, but from the storages of other TH7s, 8s, and even early or rushed 9s.

You just need to learn how to do it. I recommend going up to between 1600-1900 trophies, and learn how to use a fairly standard giant wiz healer combo (12 giants 2 healers 8 wallbreakers ~16 wizards ~30 archers, and rage and heal spells).

That's pretty much correct. Town hall 7s can really only get dark elixir by trying to drag rush town hall 8s. The drill doesn't help at all. If they made it so the Lightning spell does 50% damage to storages, even that would be much better. Too many kids came onto the forum crying that town hall 7s were taking their DE. They never accepted the idea that they have a revenge button. Supercell caved in to the crying and they shouldn't have

The strategy my mini account is using is 3 healers 27 wiz, 3 lightnings, and the rest loons. Lightning and loons are to take down ADs. If you aren't particularly going for DE, swapping some loons for hogs will work better. But Giants will distract the healers.

A very interesting discussion going on here...
However, I would like to reply to all those who keep stating one needs no skill to zap. Of course, they're right. But can any of those players tell me how much skill it takes to gem your way up the game ?...

    Indeed, none!

What are you talking about, if you put in a little extra elixer to get a lvl 3 de drill then you get approx 7000 de every week, that's almost half of a lvl 2 de storage. And I never zapped once yet I got so much from the drill I rarely ever needed to attack, let alone zap. And what about the time when th 7 didn't even get a drill? Think about that.
