It's not a game changing thing. It's more to be excited for what your troop would look like. I thought it'd be cool if when you were going to upgrade a troop in the lab, you can see what the troop would look like when it is done upgrading.

Take giants for example. There is a huge appearance difference between level 5 giants and level 6 giants. I know it won't work for spells because they are...well, spells, but I thought this would be a cool little feature.

It would be pretty hard to get this done because the laboratory doesn't show any images of the troops, not actual images, nor how they will look like. The laboratory shows a design, an icon, for each troop. Also I don't think showing how they will look like is that important, as it is to show with what are they better than the previous level.
