The Portal of the frost is a 3 by 3
Structure, it has two purposes. One is getting new stuff via the Frozen Travelers, the second is to get more single-player maps.
When you first tap on it the portal a Frozen Traveler will pop up (like in the tutorial) saying u saved him and his people , then when u exit there will be little Frozen Explorers walking around your village. If you tap on one of them they will open up a "trade" menu were you would buy some cool icy stuff. The single player maps wouldn't be like the goblin maps, instead of having lots of maps each day you guys will design a new map and the play can fight it they will get loot then, the portal would have a 24 hour cool down then there will be a new one the next day.
When you do one of these maps for the first time, you will unlock the Frost Giant which in your dark barracks. It will do the same damage, have the same health, and movement, speed of a golem, But, will have half the health and take 50% less damage from inferno towers. They will take the same housing space as a golem, and take about the same Dark Elixir to train.
I believe you should get the portal at town hall 9, and will be a cool idea.
