Welcome! Thanks for clicking on this page!
Here I will be explaining the War Machine as well as strategies, nerfs, and ways this would improve clash of clans. I am open to suggestions and if you vote that this is a bad troop please explain why. But enough chit-chat. Let's talk about:
The War Machine
Let's start off small with what it does, shall we?
The War Machine will hurl a projectile into the heart of an enemy's base, or begin smashing through walls. Now this may not sound very exciting at all, but there is much more to this troop. That was just the simplified explanation of its capabilities (look below for the in-depth version). The War Machine is a true structure for war (get it?).
What does it look like?
The War Machine will originally look like a plain wooden catapult supported by brass (what is on mid-level cannons, yes, it is actually brass) with a sharp log at the bottom and after upgrades the war machine would change to completely brass with elixir crystals. After that it would change into elixir crystals with areas of dark elixir crystals. (I don't really have any other ideas as to how this would look, but I'm sure Supercell can come up with something.)

The More In-Depth Version of the War Machine
The war machine, as you saw above, launches projectiles into the heart of an enemy's base and smashes through walls. There is a little more content in this than that, so I will be explaining it here. What is this about launching projectiles into the heart of an enemy's base?
What this means is that the tower is long ranged. It will be able to target buildings up to 9 tiles away (again, stats are completely Supercell's decision). You're probably thinking... really? This troop will be on the very edge of the battle sniping the buildings off. Ah, but that's where the catch comes in. This troop can NOT shoot within 4 tiles of itself. So the range is 4-9 tiles. Still OP? Check below for nerfs.
Smashing through walls? What... I thought this was a catapult!
It's both. It will launch projectiles by default, but after a certain amount of time (sort of like how the witch will attack with her green bolts of magic, then pause every once in a while to raise skeletons), the War Machine will charge forward and smash into a wall, taking 25 damage. After this it will back off 4 tiles (the animation shouldn't show it even bothering to turn around) and during this its speed will increase to 32 (speed of goblin).
Possible Strategies this Troop would Introduce:
- GoWiWar, GoWiWiWar (Yeah, the name doesn't really fit into any strategies but Supercell can probably come up with a better name than this).
- Less wall breakers required and this introduces extra firepower
- Long-range shots mean that inner structures will be weakened and the wizards can finish them off once they get there
- Barchy-War
- Barbarians provide protection for Archers and War Machines
- Archers destroy first layer, War Machines take out the second.
- WarLaloon
- Destroy the first few buildings with the LaLoon.
- Add the second wave of War Machines.
If you feel a strategy is OP, feel free to leave a comment and I'll explain ways the strategy is balanced.
Nerfs (Things which prevent it from being OP):
- It can not destroy a base on its own because eventually even if not killed by defenses, all War Machines will suicide from smashing into walls.
- The above will also apply to any scenario. Basically any War Machines which are spawned will aid you in destroying a few inner buildings but will all die eventually.
- Affected by Spring Traps
- Town Halls are barely out of reach of the War Machine's grasp.
Ways this would Improve Clash:
- Players would have to better plan bases because of War Machines firing at inner structures.
- There is currently no troop with a "blind spot," and I feel that this would really variate people's troop compositions, because as of now, 90% of the leaderboard is using Lavaloonion.
