    Wouldn't it be funny...

Wouldn't it be funny if THIS was SC's real motivation behind the new matchmaking?
What if; They saw people getting burned out (or fed up with) the derby...
because too many people were playing 'to win' rather than playing for the pure enjoyment.
What if; their real objective was to encourage people to take a step back,
to take some of the competitiveness out of the derby,
to allow people to play the derby under their own terms
    instead of as a cut-throat win-at-all-cost venture.

Seems to me, that, rather than cursing SC,
maybe we owe them a big Thank You!

Don't give up on the derby... Just play it at a reasonable pace...
That will be different for each of us!
But, when we find that pace, and settle into it,
maybe, just maybe, we'll be thankful when the occasional win comes along,
instead of EXPECTING it, almost demanding it!

I am glad you will continue to play Hay Day with less stress, and that you are giving up on the derby, but not on Hay Day altogether.

My NH still likes to get the 5 horseshoes, so we continue to play the derby. We have never spent diamonds on it and will not start spending them to try and get a trophy. We have mostly gold trophies from when the derby started. We may get 2nd this week, but there is already no way to catch up to 1st.

If you're right, CallieLou, then I'd like to explain to SC that I already was playing the derby under my own terms. So could they please stop forcing me out of the race. Thanks.

Enable diamond confirmation in settings --- but beware: it only works in some places!

Exactly! But what a lovely bubble the op sentiment would truly be. the original derby was great. Such a shame they changed it. O well, on to more fun farming like the old days. We have our 10 gold and know how hard it was to get them before the diamond derbys began. Certainly proud of that 《humming to a peaceful tune》

I guess I'm unsure how they forced you out of anything.
If you were very comfortable with how you were playing... Keep playing at that level!

The level of play that each of us finds comfortable is a very personal thing.
I'm glad that you already found your ideal!

Don't let a lack of extra rewards, whether they be intrinsic or extrinsic, drag you down from that level

Will be interesting to see if it's relaxing or if I'll feel like I'm missing out.
Same here - not sure how it will feel to sideline myself. I told my neighbors last week that I was thinking of opting out (a few others were doing it), but I was worried about not being able to help in a pinch. Our NH has taken only gold up until now, but it looks like we will be doing well to finish among the top three this week, which will make it easier for me to sit back next week. Or so I hope!

Its just too much for every single week! We will still trash tasks and keep high pts tasks on board, but noone is expected to participate. You can finish 320*6, or do zero.

I just wanna come home and ask my friends how was the day, sell them stuff and help with orders. I want to make cakes but don't like the obligation of finishing them in 1 day 20 hrs! Don't really want to keep tracking who is collecting their 65 bacons and who isn't. And that boat task. I have space for that next to the ship wrecks in my abyss.

Now i need to excuse myself as i need to grow some potatoes like i should be doing. You know what? I just found out the bday cake deco looks amazing with two wheat plots next to it as the golden color matches very well! Yay!
This is it for us too. It's a real shame. Supercell had an excellent concept with the derby, but have completely ruined it with this matchmaking idea, making it virtually impossible to win without treating hay day like a full time job. And I already have a job. :-(

This week we averaged 309 points per task, which was no easy feat. I had to cajole my sister into it to get us over the hump of 5 horseshoes, which I only did b/c of the boating event and some 320's that came up at the end of the week. My husband got sick of it and I had to play his device and boats. And after all that, averaging 309 pts, we are in 6th place. My sister wants to quit, I want to keep doing the derby at least for 4 horseshoes, but honestly I don't think I'll be able to convince my husband and sister to continue.

IMO it's a real shame because we had a taste of what was super fun for a couple of weeks there when supercell got it right -- random matchings, some weeks with a chance to win and others not, but always fun and not over-stressful. Now it's just multiple teams ahead of us doing 6x320 and I don't know how it's possible to keep up that pace unless you are retired, or don't have have kids, or are independently wealthy and just don't have to work.

I honestly think SC has screwed this up. Regardless of some folks wanting to think they are being nice and trying to show us a way to opt out of the derby (??!), this is about a business growth plan, plain and simple. But it may be backfiring. They need to grow their player base and not just the players who are already big spenders. It's marketing 101 - expanding into the next tier down (just like big business needs to expand reach to SMB in order to sustain growth and protect against the risk of the 80/20). But they took what was a great hook a few weeks ago and messed it up big time. If I were the vp sales operations for Supercell I would be very worried.

Wow. I cannot thank you for All of your sound advice, not only now but in the past.

I think your decision will be faced by many neighborhoods in the future. Of course, the pro competitive derby crowd will say hoods that go this direction, have no drive to WIN. Maybe. But I do have a desire to have fun again and enjoy the game without dealing with the Vegas style business model called the Derby.

By Vegas style I mean, if you stay at the tables long enough, you will eventually lose everything because the house always wins.

i just received a Kik message from my former co-leader of my group, that she is taking many of the members of my old neighborhood who are still in the neighborhood, to a new neighborhood she is forming. Not really much of a surprise there.

This will effectively leave my old neighborhood existing in name only with a few (?) members. She did ask if I wanted to take it back just before the last member leaves, and I have agreed to do so.

i am going to try to start a no derby or 5 horseshoe derby only. I hope to build a version of this type of neighborhood that will be stronger than the old neighborhood. It will take time and It will not have the impressive 10 level 100 players in the hood .... But I wanted a challenge and in this tough recruitment age .... This might be it.

In in the old days, it was enough to help each other level up, fill boat crates, expand land, expand barn/silo, upgrade town, etc. That took time. The super competitive derby teams have a full time operation to insure tasks are deleted and executed. It is a lot of extra hours.

Soon after I gain control, I will be placing a post to recruit members to thus hood. For a while, the King stands alone. Hey, if you can't name fun of yourself, who can you make fun of. Thanks Again.

You are so right Tony, the house always wins.

No addict admits they are addicted, well we are addicted to hayday but thats a different story 😌

First it starts with buying a sixth task, then spending diamonds on trashing tasks, then speeding up boats. And then you find yourself tracking your friends progress and making calculations and wondering why you didn't score 1500 pts per person. And those are your friends who were there when you got married, got a new job, played and chatted for a long time.

Derby is just a tool, its a horse shoe box next to our nh house that wasnt there until a few months ago. Some hate boats some hate trucks. We can just ignore this horse shoe box as well.

I am sure we will get our horse shoe prizes as usual but not more poking a neighbor who is yet to complete their fifth task because they need some family time. I got two horse carriages already, one for my farm, one for my town. I guess thats fair enough and if we can't event get the horse shoe prizes, waow too bad 🙀😏

I saw it coming for the past two weeks since the new matchmaking system was introduced. Last week ppl got burned out by over achieving and this week noone was popping up in chat. And after we decided to take this new direction people just kept popping up, chatting, joking, helping, trading, laughing like we used to.

Aggressive derby competition is not enjoyable, sustainable or fun. Its just burning you out without you knowing it.
