I should clarify on 2.) I should have said leave heroes available while you are upgrading them, but just for war. This is currently the case on defense but so many attack rely on your heroes, not having them for war attacks sucks!

I don't see why this would be true. Donations accrued is not related to clan levels. Why should war cc donations be treated any different than any other donation?

There is no wait time for war clan castle donations. So you could ask a friend to remove the troops every time you finish donating to him and then keep doing that in a continuous cycle for the whole war prep which means endless experience! Would be to overpowered and easy to go up levels.
What if you'd only get the EXP when the war started. There, fixed.
