    TH9 Meta/Anti-3* -- How'd I do?

Took another shot at an anti-3* style war base.

    • Difficult to lure CC.
    • difficult loon/hog flows.
    • AQ well protected by high-hp buildings.
    • Towers outside walls to channel golems a bit.
    • Asymmetrical.
    • multiple DGB locations.
    • various other key points that will take forever to list out.

    Thoughts?

Any advice is solicited and appreciated.

    Mixed bag

I like the there are lots of open areas, and it looks like the pathing to the double big bomb is good, but there are a couple issues. One is that there is only one double big bomb trap, and the other is the number of defensive structures outside the walls. I know you've done it for a reason, but I don't think it's worth it. Good luck, and happy clashing!

    Good input Zavtra, Much appreicated.

...I actually agree with you on both remarks, but I'll give my reasoning for switching up those specific points.

I've been going against higher level golem's as of late, with relatively lowish hero's, and the kill squads tend to make more progress as a result. So this is my attempt at flowing the golems first inward, so the path makers (wizards) get targeted, then outward and away so hero's get targeted. Once I get a few more wars with this layout I may amend that decision and bring the towers inner. It's certainly still in "beta" at this point.

Additionally, I've found spacing one of the DGB pairs causes early heals to be used. Which works to the defenses advantage in some cases, particularly if flow paths create a long trip for hogs. Also, if they've planned to place heals in one place, but are suddenly forced to use early, it throws off the strategy slightly, which ultimately, in my opinion, is the purpose of an Anti-3* arrangement. There is another benefit to spacing the Giant bombs slightly, that is to combat the use of the surgical hog deployment strategy. But this too, is a very recent adjustment for me.

My first look at the base. There's only three possible DGB locations. The others can be invalidated through proper scouting. Further scouting and a little bit of Surgical Hog deployment later, there's only 1 spot that screams DGB, which is right where yours are. A Queen Kill squad would trip it. Although saying that, your spring trap placement is fairly good in limiting the effectiveness of surgical hog strikes.

On another note, a number of your defenses around the outside look to be just outside effective air defense cover range. This means Loons can 1-2 trade on a few of your defenses. Mostly along the right and bottom, there are a few spots where the attacker can trade loons effectively for defenses.

Great points, until you mentioned the towers being out of AD range, I hadn't thought of it for (oops). I'll see about adjusting an AD to cover down.

Yeah, the spring trap placement is meant to coincide with the ad placement encase of a "HoLo" style attack and any surgical deployment of hogs. But sadly the DGB with the best flow path usually gets tripped by the kill squad, I haven't found a way around preventing this as of yet, aside from removing the DGB from those locations completely.

    Thanks for the input.

DGB spot is relatively predictable IMO, needs more fake spots that must be taken into consideration.

Yah, seems to be a common issue for me. Working on a new layout.
