    New feature - Custom Wars!

Hi all! I was playing some Dota 2 today and got an interesting idea that can be added to the game in the future.
So if you don't know, there are these things called custom games in Dota 2, meaning that you can play a different mode of the game. So that's how my idea begins!

Custom Wars will basicly provide more options to clan leaders to choose before searching war, Clan War Mods if you wish. For example you can play wars where raids will be only one minute long, or wars where you can only use air troops. There are obviously lots of alternatives that i can't think of right now but i just think this would be a great way to make warring more interesting for clans that aren't really good at wars or doesn't wanna compete at high level.

Here are some other war mode ideas that i can think of:
    - Wars that you have to use Air Troops
    - Wars with no preparation days
    - Wars that only last 2 hours long
    - Wars where you can't use spells
    - Wars where members have less or more than 2 attack chances
    - Wars where you have to raid with only certain troops

Custom Wars won't be count as official war wins but will grant war bonus with adjusments.
I just would like to hear you guys thoughts on this as i might have failed with the explanation. Thanks in advance!

The downside to sub-dividing wars is that the pool gets diluted, which means more mis-matches.

Let's assume 4 of your options are implemented and they are all equally popular. That means 20% of the potential matchups are available for each group.

Even worse, let's assume that only 5% are interested in doing a no-spells war. The chance of finding an equally matched 30v30 group who ALSO seleceted no-spells becomes very small ... so small that every matchup is significantly lopsided.

While the idea is interesting, the math doesn't support it.

The custom wars would be mostly for clans who doesn't war and just want to have fun. Missmatches would occur but since they won't be count as official wars i guess the clans wouldn't have a lot of problem with it. Search times would obviously have to be longer.

No, no, no and again no.
The chances of getting a fair match will be near zero as has been pointed out above.
Don't even get me started on how abusable it wiil be, if any loot is gained in these "wars".

If you're looking for fun, you can do this NOW!

After all, if you don't care who wins, you don't need the other clan to agree to play on the same playing field. Simply send a clan mail that says "This war we aren't using spells." or "This war we are only using air attacks."

There's really nothing stopping you from implementing this for your clan with existing functionality.

That wouldn't be as fun though i guess and couldn't be implemented for things like quick wars.
