Unfortunately abusable in the form of copying someone's war base and practicing against it in "safe mode". :-(

Might be a nice thing for some short-time regular event or for clans, which are not at war atm. :-)

    Thumbs up! :-)

That is a great modification idea. Not allowing clan members to attack each other during war seems like an easy fix/solution.

Not so great unfortunately as many people, especially high levels, have multiple accounts... On the other hand, friendly attacks may be restricted to th 7 (8, 9) and below, so hardly anyone will bother with duplicating low level bases for the purpose of practicing attacks...

Link in my sig to a more detailed breakdown of the ways this would be exploited. Also included is a way to get around those exploits. In the end it is possible but highly restrictive.

Thanks for directing me to the link. After reading all of them, I still feel like the amount of hoops a person would have to go through to exploit this feature is a lot. There was a lot of good safe guard suggestions that, if put into place, makes the idea that someone will exploit it seem like a moot point. If someone wants to go through the incredible amount of time and effort to exploit this, then more power to them, there are already weird people who exploit current features in the game as it is. It seems sad to me, that a feature that would add more "fun factor" to the game would be dismissed because there is a minority of people who want to take short cuts and play the game in a negative fashion. I realize this whole topic is more or less in the "sticky" of things that will likely never be. My overall thought is that, that is kind of sad.

Sure, the feature in its core is good, we just need to figure out the least burdening set of restrictions to minimize work, that SC will have to do, should they get interested. :-)

What's wrong with practising your war attacks on bases that are copied from war. You could easily find one very similar in multiplayer if you are really bothered about practising.

A way to combat people who would practice alongside a war is to make it a second option. You either have a normal war, or a small war within the clan.
To make sure you don't miss out on too much loot SC could make the smaller wars one day, (3 normal wars and 1 small war a week for example), as well as not having to pay for troop compositions as you wouldn't get loot from the war. You could have a preset window with 3 army comps that you could attack with without having to train them. You also wouldn't earn xp.

Since you have to have 10 for a normal war, clans could split 10 into two teams of 5 for really small wars.

This would bring a new element of fun to the game and wouldn't take away from the current experience too much.

Free practice, i.e. free of charge, i.e. with troops at no cost is an obvious never-ever-ever. :-)
Same goes for any loot from friendly attacks.
Friendly wars, thus, will be a waste of time.

This would tear alot of clans apart.

Watch replays as to when ppl raid your village and look for patterns. They are your weaknesses. Also, their is no way possible to defend against every kind if attack. (Its just not possible) Their are to many holes and you will drive each other bananas trying to fill them.
This and eventually you and everyone else would realize how much elixir your throwing at each others bases with no real reward. I say this because someone will always see gaps in a war base if they scout like I do. You just need to weigh how well your design does for YOU and accept or decline if you think it could be better or not at your current level.

I don't think it would be a waste of time. The premise behind my whole idea is to have fun with friends and to obtain bragging rights over my friends. I could care less if a stranger shreds my base because he spent 24 hours analyzing the ♥♥♥♥ out of my base during war prep or whatever. I don't care about the loot or acquiring additional loot either. I just want to have fun playing a game with my friends. Supercell should want that as well, especially if they can profit from it.
