I feel nostalgic reading guides like this one, since it reminds me of a time when every other thread was a guide or full of tips for players.
Hope it gets considered for the Tread of Treads. Especially useful for people just starting out or who want to get some tips on using a troop they haven't yet tried.
Awesome work mate!

It seems like barbarians got short shifted in this guide. If you do the math, they compare well vs just about any other troop:
Barbs: 8 dps/housing space, 20 secs build time/housing space
Archers: 7 dps/space, 25 sec/space
Dragons: 7 dps/space, 90 sec/space
Giants: 1.2 dps/space, 24 secs/space
etc. etc. etc.
Vs virtually every other soldier, barb packs in more of a punch per housing space in less time. I did just dps and build time here, but you can also compare hit points, cost, etc.
The barb's big problem is AI. If the barb had any other ai, flying attribute, targeting ability, bonus vs anything, etc. it would be the favored troop for that situation. As it is, they run around randomly, often running for miles rather than just attacking what's in front of them behind a wall. In fact, the AI is so poor that it is almost the sole reason they are the least preferred unit to use. According to this guide, they at best can be used as meat shields. Imho, they can't even do that. In my experience, if the situation says they should stay together, they split. If they are better off splitting, they clump.
They actually can be used as meat sheilds. What do you mean they are the least-preferred troop? Nearly every farming army has barbarians.

I think they're more the disposable part of the army, not the ones that actually do the work.
I think it's a really sad commentary on barb AI that giants are so incredibly effective at such a small fraction of the barb's dps almost solely because they usually go in the same direction at the same time.
