    [TH9] How To GoLaLoon/GoLava ♦︎ 3 Star Attack Strategy ♦︎

    Hello there fellow Clashers!

Today I present you guys a How To GoLaLoon / GoLava Attack strategy for town hall 9 players. GoLaLoon is an abbreviation for Golems, Lavahounds and Balloons. These three keytroops will help you three star almost any town hall 9 base. The principals of this type of raid are the same as the ones from a Surgical Hog Raid.

I made an in-depth video with everything you need to know, so you can perform a flawless GoLaLoon / GoLava Attack, but if you don't feel like watching it, there's a written tutorial below!

    Contents
    1. Troop Composition
    2. Base Scouting
    3. How To Start your Attack
    4. How To Deploy your Balloons
    5. Short Summary of what you need to GoLaLoon / GoLava

    1. GoLaLoon / GoLava Troop Composition

The three archers are used as clean-up troops. The Balloons are obviously used to take down the all the defences in a base. The wizards are used to create the funnel for the heroes so they'll go into the base. The golem and the clan castle golem are used as tanks for your Archer Queen as she's the key into three-starring a base with GoLaLoon/GoLava. The lightning spell is for the clan castle troops, the rage spells for your loons and the jump spell to get your heroes, golems and wizards into the base.

Note: This composition is just a guideline on what sort of troops you need to bring. It's not necessary that you copy the exact same troops, but you should keep in mind that a max golem in the clan castle is better than a max lavahound as you need to make sure your queen has time enough to take down the enemy queen, the clan castle troops and at least one archer tower. Also, if you have a max lavahound it might not get killed and it won't explode into lavapups. You will need to have exploded lavahounds because the lavapups replace the minions in a GoLaLoon / GoLava attack and if they don't explode you will probably run out of time and fail on getting a three-star.

    2. Base Scouting

With GoLaLoon / GoLava you can basically attack any sort of Town Hall 9 base, even an anti-air base, you just need to find a way to take down the enemy queen, the clan castle troops and at least one archer tower. So if you for example have a jump spell to place into the section shown in the image below, you can easily get your golems and heroes in there, get an AD, the AQ and the enemy CC troops.

    3. How To Start your Attack

What you want to do first is drop both of your golems (your own and the one in your clan castle) and surround them with wizards to create a funnel for your heroes. Once the outermost buildings are taken down by your wizards, drop a jump spell and your heroes so they can go inside the compartment with the AD and take town the AD, the AQ and the CC troops.

    4. How To Deploy your Balloons

Once your heroes have managed to take down the AD, AQ and CC troops, deploy your lavahounds to a defence and then send in one or two balloons to directly target a defence. Once your lavahounds reach an AD, use a ragespell so your loons will get faster to help them. In the image below, the lavahounds will go through the base to take down another air defence and the moment that AD starts to target your lavahound it's time to once again send in one or two balloons per defence. Eventually your lavahounds will explode and lavapups will erupt from that explosion.

It's necessary to have exploded lavahounds because the lavapups replace the minions in a GoLaLoon / GoLava attack and they will help clear all the buildings surrounding the base and make sure you can three star the base before the timer runs out.

    5. Summary

Here's a short summary of what you need to do/have in order to three-star a base with GoLaLoon

    • Archer Queen of level 15+ (it will be really hard for you if she's below 15)
    • Max TH9 Troops and Spells (This can be done without max troops, but chances of you getting 3 stars are decreased)
    • Take down at least 1 AD, enemy AQ and CC troops. (Use your jump spell, golems, wizards and heroes for this)
    • Directly target defences with one or two balloons while the lavahounds soak up the damage
    • Drop a rage spell when your lavahound is on top of an AD so your loons will get there faster.
    • Make sure your lavahounds pop, because you won't have minions to clean-up the remaining buildings when the defences are down.

And that's it for this tutorial, I hope you enjoyed it and if you want to see more good stuff, check out my YouTube Video Thread or if you're interested in another Town Hall 9 three-star Attack strategy, then there's a video below!

I am exploring golaloon now. Have some questions:

    1) Should I use it having lava1 and queen6? I read correctly AQ 15. But still...
    2) U use 3 lavas, I've seen people use 3+1 in CC + 2 golems.
    3) No WB? U have 3 wiz, other option is to use 6.

I am using level 1 hounds and a level 5 queen, I go with a lvl4+ golem in the CC and 3 hounds, the rest loons and some wiz/archers, seems to be working fine hitting lower th9s(mostly level 6 AD with some other defenses leveled up a bit)

    1) I think that depends on what base you want to attack. The 15+ guideline is to ensure succes on a three-star attack. It's also because mostly you attack maxed or close to maxed town hall 9's in war.
    2) Well, I explained it better in the video than in the written thread, but you want an extra golem in your CC and not a lavahound as a lower level lavahound will explode faster and you want a maxed golem because you need time for your queen to take out the enemy queen, cc troops and at least one AD.
    3) WB's aren't really needed if your queen is high enough and I just wanted some more balloons, but you can obviously switch out 2 loons for like 2 wiz and 1 WB extra. The troop composition is once again just a guideline and you don't have to follow it that strictly.

You get a 3 star about 75% of the time and 2 stars only the other 25% of the time. It also takes practice. I have to admit I can't always three star a base, but practice makes perfect so keep trying out this strategy and eventually you'll get better at it.

As for your lavahound not exploding into pups, that seems rather strange. If you're fighting a town hall 9 with level 6+ air defences, at least one of your hounds should explode. Can you show me a picture of the base you attacked? And how exactly did you deploy your troops?

It's in the 1st paragraph of the troop composition description. He uses the Lightning for cc troops, but that method is rarely used anymore since the introduction of the poison spell.
