It doesn't have to make sense to you though, it makes sense to Supercell. They have done the analysis on their end and have determined that the way that gemming upgrades works today is the way that makes them more money.

Think about it......... if they could make more money by offering upgrade boosts, then why wouldn't they? It must be because they make more money off of players who are so addicted to this game and have enough money to gem upgrades to finish IMMEDIATELY, instead of giving people the option to spend fewer gems to speed up a long upgrade.

They have a lot of smart people working at Supercell who have made a very good living by understanding how to determine what makes their company more money. You must agree with this.

If they haven't changed the way people can spend gems on upgrades, it MUST be because they know they'll lose revenue if they did that.

That's assuming there's no other option available.

Trying to simplify the argument using your airline analogy doesn't work.

There are plenty of little ways for you to spend gems. Upgrade times is their #1 seller. Using your airline analogy in an absurd way, it's like saying economy class is so profitable that breaking it down into half and quarter seats would surely increase sales!

Increased sales is not Supercells problem. They have plenty of sales. Diluting the sales by making lesser options "might" make it seem like sales are increasing but at what risk to those that were spending more money before and now are spending less because of this feature? That's a balancing act that Supercell does each update.

It's unlikely that any way to boost upgrade times for fraction of the gem costs is highly unlikely.

And let's face it, anything that costs under 20 gems is basically free loader zone.

Thanks for your intelligent response Hawdog. I guess I am suggesting to Supercell that they investigate whether using what is called "price discrimination" in economics might make them more money if properly implemented. Again, the airline analogy: people who are impatient or demand only the best pay first class fare, those moderately impatient pay business, cheapskates (like me!) fly economy. Airlines have rooms full of PhD's working on maximizing their revenues, and multi-tier pricing works for them.

Maybe my 10 gem cost was just too low. What if it were 20 or 30?

It doesn't change the fact that speeding up builder times is ruled-out.
