tophy logic question

I'm wondering about trophy logic here.

I'm a lower lev TH9, mortars and cannons upgraded, all other defences at max th8 levels. King and queen lev 10. walls a mix of purples and skulls

I've started pushing, and made it up to master3. the trophy logic here seems very odd though!

I hit a th9 who was a bit better than me, upgraded wiz towers and air def as well as mortars and cannons. Got 2 stars off him and 7 trophies.

a few moments later someone hit my exposed TH, obviously another th9 as they killed it with the queen. left after the snipe, with 10 of my trophies.

so I get 7 for a 2 star against a comparable th9, but lose 10 on a 1 star against a th9?

Trophies are not defined by base strength. It's the difference in cups between opposing villages. If you have far greater trophies than the base you are attacking you will gain less. If you have less trophies than the opposing village you stand to gain more.

it goes based on the amount of trophies you have. Nothing to do with the amount of upgrades you have. The new system deliberately puts you with similar Th specs to make it a little more challenging.
