dont worry about defence at your level... just focus on getting your troops out and raiding for resources and upgrading all your offensive things first (spell factory, army camps, lab, troops in lab). the other guys reccomend mortar and wizard tower which is true, but the best defence is really a shield if you are not online so get your town hall outside your walls and just raid when you have time to do a few in a row, you will never defend low lvl th from everyone so best to go offence for now and get resources mostly.. also focus on storages to make them big enough to upgrade those defencees, the first few lab upgrades can be hard to save for but it makes a huge difference...
when I was your lvl I would average about 50k-150k elixer and gold per attack.. be sure to click the next button a lot when looking for a suitible target!
