Basic Info: This thread is ment to inform people on the pros and cons of upgrading a town hall, and tell people how to decide against/with upgrading, as well as provide TH information.
The Problem: Upgrading a TH is exciting. It brings alot of new buildings and upgrade levels. From the outside, it looks like the best thing to do. Get more buildings, defenses, troops? This is what motivates people to get a new TH level. Some people are actually prematurely upgrading there townhall(upgrading early). People upgrade and think that even though they have low level buildings, spending money on a TH will bring new and better buildings! Well, thats not the case.
Opposite Effect: Clashers tend to think that if they don't spend there gold upgrading on a new building, but a Town Hall, they will unlock more buildings so that they don't have to upgrade a cannon. Well, this is quite the opposite effect. Now, some people don't think this way but upgrade to early. These people generally are just planning an upgrade when they realise a new Town Hall is on the horizon. What ends up happening is if this repeats, your going to end up being a horrible town hall 9. Getting destroyed all the time because your buildings are low levels.
Pros and Cons of Upgrading: There are pros and cons of upgrading a town hall. Pros are very easy to see. New buildings. The cons however, may be invisible. Now, if you don't know already, you get a loot bonus/decuct on every town hall you attack. If you a attack a Town Hall the same level as you, the loot is the same. If you attack a lower level, it decreases. Same with higher levels.
Am I a Rusher? The first step is to realize, "I Town Halled Rushed". Look at your base. Are your defenses lower then the max level allowed for that TH? Is your base a lower leveled compared to friends or clanmates that have the same Town Hall? Once you see that you have identified if you Town Halled rushed or not, the next step it to stop it.
Planning to Upgrade: Are you planning to upgrade your Town Hall soon? Look at were your base is now. It may be very, very, very, very tempting just to spend a couple hours and do it. Look at your base. Are you things maxed out? Now, I do not want to say "Max out everything then upgrade" just don't do redicoulously early. Do you feel comfortable at were your at? If your levels aren't extremely low, then go for it! I do recommend 95% maxing out (5% for walls) before upgrading, but thats tedious!
Rushers: Rushers have one thing in common besides rushing(of course). That is lower level EVERYTHING. Rushers will have lower level defenses, barracks, EVERYTHING! This is because they upgraded and unlocked more buildings, they spent there gold on something like a hidden tesla, and didn't have enough gold or time to upgrade cannons. Thats overwhelming!
Ready to Upgrade: If you think your ready, its actually quite easy! Now, if your maxed out, your pretty much going to have that gold all the time! It will be easy! I suggest if your ready, get a third opinion from a Non-Rusher, maby a high level player or a friend! When your upgrading, be weary about gems. It looks tempting to use gems when you first upgrade, your actually just overwhealmed. Trust me, use gems for builders.
Everlasting Effect: If your a rusher, your buildings are going to be lower leveled, and your going to be a low level. Your going to have trouble with alot of things, was it worth it? Now, if your a Non-Rusher, then you may be a higher level, with high leveled things. I reccomed option 2.
CONCLUSION: Dont rush your Town Hall. Wait it out. It will help alot. If your about to upgrade early, spend it on a defense or walls. In the long run, it will slow down your time to becoming a top player!
