    Clash of Clans Web Admin

I'll try to condense this idea into a digestible proposal. Clash of Clans is a data driven game. However, our ability to store and retrieve that data is very limited. Want to see which clan members are doing well in war over time? Get out a pencil and paper.

it would be great if the game had an admin website where clan leaders could manage their clans more effectively. And people could use historical data to improve their own gameplay. Think of the web consoles that the Battlefield series has.

    Key Asks:
    - ability to store and retrieve war history indefinitely
    - ability to select players for war and see data about clan strength (what ifs)
    - ability to download data to csv files for further manipulation
    - chat area for clan memebers, leaders etc - in a place that doesn't burden game development
    - ability to store more clan information - again, in a place that doesn't burden game development
    - ability to recognize clan members for heroic acts
    - tools to annotate clan members who fail to attack or don't follow attack rules
    - top ranking lists of which troops players prefer
    - dashboards on which types of attacks are most successful for the team
    - a more robust map editor

This is not an exhaustive list, just a few ideas of what could be done with a companion Admin website for the game. Maybe it's too late for Clash, but it sure would be nice to have an agile and dynamic view of information that is detached from the game bits and game development cycle.

    I kinda like this!

It would be nice if the web administration interface is made using open-source technologies (PHP, MySQL, jQuery, etc.). But it depends on their current server setting and existing technologies they have used to store all the information.

There can be both read-only (frontend) and customize-able data (backend) on this web (database) application.

We'll see if how they can pull this off once they issue a go-signal on this venture.

And the first question for them would be: Will this make more money for us (SUPERCELL)?

If not, then this idea would be webbed up.

I suppose security would be an issue for them as it would allow extra access points into their system. It could work if players had the ability to view their own data through the game with the option to export it in a usable output file. For clans the clan leader & admins could export clan data of the same type but including team stats like war battles won, troops donated, donated troops used (donated by others to them) etc. if it was just an exported data set security wouldn't be an issue for supercell & then the community could make their own analysis tools & share them around.

it may not directly make more $ for supercell but if it encourages more detailed play people may naturally spend more $, or time, to play.

any spies that were given admin could potentially build up a nice database on other player stats which I'm assuming could help the hardcore, analytical players.

I believe security would not be an issue to them, if they know how to diversify and set up strong shields against script kiddies and h@ckers.

They just have to take a risk to reach an extra mile of awesomeness.

Or perhaps they can start by setting up data feeds leaders can use, but it may end up too technical to the end-users.

So web interface is a good start.

You are joking aren’t you ?

Only a select few would care about this feature. Awesomeness is in the eye of the beholder.

The requirements for SC would increase dramatically with any changes to accessing their databases. And I certainly don’t want them to increase the risk to my villages and clans just for the benefit of a small few.

I think you missed some my points dude. Do you think SUPERCELL will just use one host for this?
Where's the virtualization and those geeky ninja moves that they can pull off just to make this happen?

Technical people from SUPERCELL can do magic and I have strong faith in that.

How could I miss your points ? You want it and don’t think it’s a big issue for SC.

I’m not sure about the relevance of quantity of servers or virtualization affects this topic. Well, actually I am, as I know it means little other than workload.

My argument isn’t about competance, never said it was. It is about risk and return. The proposal offers little return to me or you, even less to SC but the risks to SC, and to you and me due to our dependance on SC services id dramatically increased.

Faith in ability is great, but the reality is that some of biggest IT service providers have been defeated and will be in the future. That will be foremost in SC considerations. Your slight increase in pleasure doesn’t alter your game-play experience. SC know this too.

So, where is the incentive to SC. Please don’t suggest improved player involvement. Something tangible if you can manage it.
