This information will in the end help me catch the fish I need (I hope) but I still don't understand how it works.

Example, I'm trying to catch a rainbow smelt in area 3.
I see a Rudd, a rainbow smelt and I think it was a Speckled dace jumping in this area.
What should I do with above information in mind?

Keep throwing small blue lures. The smelt shows up often compared to the golden trout and since the smelt is jumping, you will probably hook it quickly.




Now if you are referring to how displacement works we can use the same fish but let's say you are going for the golden trout.(you wouldn't use displacement if you were going for the smelt since its already jumping). You are casting small gold lures for the golden trout and the Rudd takes gold and green so you cannot get rid of that one yet. The rainbow smelt takes blue lures so do not throw a blue lure. The speckled dace takes gold lures but since it cannot be caught in area 3 it will be replaced within a few casts of throwing the gold lure. Basically you keep throwing gold lures until you know what replaced the dace. Lets pretend a green sunfish replaced the dace. Displacement works by using a lure that the 3 current fish cannot use. So what color is not used by a Rudd, rainbow smelt, and green sunfish? The answer is a purple lure or a worm lure. Lets say you choose a purple lure to cast. Some fish that bites purple lures bites now. Be sure to let it go before catching it. This new fish ( that bit the purple lure) replaces one of the 3 fish. Go back to throwing gold lures again. Now you repeat it all over again. I probably cast 10 gold lures then if I saw I was getting the same fish biting, I would displace once and cast another 10 gold lures again.


The only time you displace is when you are going for a fish that needs a gold lure and all 3 fish use/bite gold lures. 2 examples would be the rudd, yellow perch, northern pike or green sunfish, bluegill, greater redhorse. All use a gold lure so you can cast over and over and the same fish keep biting so to break them up you find a color none of them use. Out of these 2 groups your only choice would be the worm.

Average time for a golden trout to show up is 15 minutes using displacement/replacement method.

Average time of not using this method and just keep casting a gold lure over and over is 30-45min.

displacement means fish leaving.

rotation or replacement means fish coming in.

Well I threw in a blue lure until a small circle popped up (took about 6 times).................but what I caught was a yellow bass.....?
So does this mean, that you still need to check how it reacts once you got the correct circle?
Even when the fish was the only blue lure fish jumping?

I'm just trying too figure out where I need to keep an yey on.
Don't have much colored lures so wanna make the best out of them!

Displacement is needed when more then 1 fish that jumps bites the lure of the fish you want to catch, right?

I caught my last fish medal tonight of the 102. Add in the 12 community fish which makes 114 fish medals. I was down to my last 2 gold vouchers and thought I would never get this done. Now I can save up for the next community fish event or get some new donkeys.

About time as well Mike..!! hehe. I new you would get there in the end, just been a struggle to get that last GT.. Vouchers might be handy for the next fishing event, seeing as those two new donkeys need 20 gold ones a piece..!! Many congrats and a well deserved massive achievement.
