Wiz and Valk splash damage?

So they both say they do area splash damage but Wizards only target one building at a time. I get they do splash damage to troops but isn't this a pretty different splash damage than what Valks do? I could be wrong with valks since I haven't used them much but I believe they damage more than one building or target at a time right? Just kind of wondering, thanks. Edit=I can get the difference that valk are more up close but it's not like wiz have that much range either?

Valk were modified to do damage to multiple buildings to encourage people to use them as valk is mostly ignored. A wizard's splash damage is most effective on defense when killing attacking troops. If wizard damaged multiple buildings, that would be way too over powering.
