I have 35k DE saved up, what should I get when I hit 40? I use BAM and balloonions often, but I use the king every raid and want his ability levelled up. I can't decide on my own...

BK to lvl 10 and it's not even close. You'll get a nice ability upgrade, which will help you in war and see immediate pay-off sooner than minion upgrade.
King to 10 all the way.

I have king 9 and minion 2 (and all of the Dark troop level 1) and I am going to get BK to 10 before all of this. And then golem to 2.
I feel like minion is only worth it with lava and baloon 6, I can be wrong, but it is not my priority.
minions to me should be lower on the upgrading priority list. I like to have a few as part of clean up or to start the funnels.
King to 10.
