(Thanks for moving, I just now saw it was a duplicate thread)
I have read a lot of poor journalism over the years but this one ranks as one of the worst. How Clash of Clans Is Taking Bullying to the Virtual Playground. Here are a couple of the quotes that stood out.
"But what makes the game irresistible for some is its cliquish and exclusionary nature. The game creates a kind of social hierarchy, with different tiers for troops, kings, queens and other characters. Clan leaders are also given the power to exclude users, or to promote or demote other members within the clan.
It’s this feature that quickly spiraled into a digital “Lord of the Flies” for my nephew and his friends, and made him feel so sad earlier this month."
“You should maybe talk to Luca about Clash of Clans,” the father said to my sister. “He has been demoting other friends.”
At first I thought I was on The Onion reading satire but once I realized it was supposed to be a legitimate article all I could do is shake my head. Of course bullying is a problem around the world but it definitely isn't as bad in Clash of Clans as the writer makes it out to be. Are there bullies and toxic players in Clash? Of course, but that is something every multiplayer game struggles with at times.

Have a great day, happy clashing and clash on!
Wonder how many new credit card carrying readers of the times are now playing clash?
And here we have the story of some little jerks who think it's appropriate to actually spray their urine on other people.
And just how are these little monsters going to behave on the internet, when they don't know how to behave in the real world?
...Oh no, they do the cyber equivalent of spraying urine on each other? Big surprise!
Must be CoC's fault.
I bet the journalist gets paid to write stuff like this on purpose. News companies need to cover actual stories and not just cover things that are wrong (and the journalist even stated he doesn't play the game, without research). Really they just want more views on their stories. Maybe the journalist laughs at his own story.
Someone really needs to link this thread to the NY Times, see how they react.
That last paragraph was hilarious!
I think you missed the point from the last sentence
This closing statement basically said, boys will be boys. Clash of Clans didn't make them do things like social exclusions, that's something they do in the real world too.Which, my sister said, reminded everyone that mayhem comes naturally to 10-year-old boys, whether online or in the real world.

Maybe he wasn't allowed into their clan because he had level 4 archers and they were looking for some solid max town hall 8s.
