Hi folks,
Me again with an old ideaHowever, I hope I can present it in a fresh, new way.
The dwarf would be a new troop suggestion for dark elixir barracks. I had in mind that the dwarf would be quite healthy, however, slow. He is equipped with a blunderbass (I posted a pic for those who don't know how it looks like) and a battleax.
To give the dwarf a more unique spin, I thought his preferred target would be troops/heroes as soon as those get into the "aggression radius" of the dwarf. This aggression radius would be maybe 8 - 10 tiles, cannot really say how many tiles would be balanced) and once CC troops and/or heroes get into the aggression radius, the dwarves will stop everything and go straight after those troops/heroes. Otherwise, the dwarf has no target preference and will attack buildings with an AI just like barbarians.
Ways of Attack:
Since the dwarf carries a blunderbass and a battleax, the dwarf has two ways two fight. The idea is, that the dwarf shoots with the blunderbass at CC troops and heroes including flying units (so against troops he can target ground and air with the blunderbass). The blunderbass has a range of 3 tiles (like wizards, but slightly less than archers). So the dwarf will walk towards the troop until he gets in range. Then he will start shooting. Meele troops and barb kings will get attacked by the dwarf's battleax once they reach the dwarf (before they get shot by the blunderbass while walking toward the dwarf). The battleax can of course only target ground.
Against buildings, the dwarf solely uses his battleax.
Some other ideas that could be nice but maybe too much:
Dwarves could be resistant/immune to traps;
Dwarves deal 4 times the damage against dragons (because dragons are their archenemy);
Dwarves kill goblins always with a one hit (cuz they hate goblins);
Dwarves are somewhat resistant to mortar shells (maybe mortars deal only 50% damage to dwarves).
Regarding costs and stats, I usually stay away from posting numbers (and those numbers above for range and aggression radius etc. are just hip shots to indicate the direction).
Alright folks, hope you like itFeel free to comment.
