A 4th mortar just for symmetry is not a particularly good reason. Level 9 th bases are already hard enough to assault with tier 1 troops.
I was really surprised when they gave us the 4th wizard tower.
Having 3 mortars in a triangle formation works well for symmetry.

Then add 2 more slots for spells so if people were inclined they could take out 3/4 mortars

I'd love itif they would stop adding defenses to the game all the time. Well-upgraded TH9 bases are already pretty impossible to attack successfully with anything save a hard-core trophy-hunting army.
Clash of Clans - Aranthalion - lvl 97 - TH9 - Helsinki Clan Elder
Clash of Clans - Felagund - lvl 66 - TH8 - Helsinki! Clan Member - semi-retired
Boom Beach - Morat - lvl 34 - HQ 14 - around 300 VP
Hay Day - Level 57 farmer
Im with the others, a 4th mortar would further push the balance towards defense. Before th9 gets any more defense we need lvl6 goblins or a buff to tier one troops of some sort.
