    Keep going for the XP

We win more often than not, but we've had a few wars where there's a bit of a mismatch and we know with a few hours to go that we can't come back and win.

When that happens, we usually change strategy and focus on making sure we get at least 1 star on every base to get the XP.

We never give up no matter what.

Even if you mathematically cannot win the war you can still practice your war raids, try a new army comp., try attacking a stronger base than you normally would, etc. Of course now that clan xp exists this is even more true as win or loose you need to make sure every single base is at least starred or else you will slow your clans progress on reaching the next clan perk.

If I was ever in a clan where the leader told people not to bother attacking because we already lost, I would leave to find a better clan immediately.

Wars where we have absolutely no chance of winning anymore we still tell players that they need to use both attacks and they need to use proper armies with the intention of going for a 3 star! They are however allowed to experiment and are encouraged to try new strategies without the fear of a loss or a 1 star costing the clan.

Over the course of a couple of wars where we were badly mismatched and losing badly i taught myself how to do the shattered lavaloon style of attack and as a result i now 3 star about 90% of the bases i attack on my mini account in war which is a TH9 with a AQ15 and BK10. This is not picking on easy targets either as we are only allowed to attack a maximum of 5 below although you are usually encouraged to go for your mirror as first attack!

This way of using attacks allows members in the clan to practice war attacks with the extra pressure of clan mates watching that you simply do not get in the regular matchmaking type attacks

A few wars ago, we almost called it a practice war. They had two decent TH10s to our zero and higher across the board. Well, we ended up trying and we won. They REALLY sucked at attacking. Top TH10 attacked one of our TH8s and got two stars.... So unless you get your top guys three starred, don't give up.

I love the "Its a waste of elixir" Excuse. What about your clan members that filled all the defensive CC's for you and all the people that already attacked? Too bad for them huh?

Do you 3 star every attack? then get a practice attack in. Ever GoWiPed? No is a good chance to try it out with no pressure.

You can always raid more resources.

Always do both attacks. Even if it's hopeless. At least get practice attacks. Not attacking is a bad precedent to set.

No serious war clan should tolerate non attacks, even in the face of loss.

^exactly. And this goes the other way too. In our feeder clan our guys routinely have perfect 40v40 wars, but everyone is still expected to use both attacks. Don't ever miss a good opportunity to attack out of your comfort zone a little bit

Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it

And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see

    [Chorus x2]
Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

    (Ooh give you up)
    (Ooh give you up)
(Ooh) Never gonna give, never gonna give (give you up)

Doesn't that just ensure that you'll be just as unprepared for the same circumstances when they roll around again?

I never understood this, either. Every attack in war is valuable...whether you can still win that war or not. Its practice on a war base, its XP, and if bailing on the war once its mathematically out of reach starts becoming acceptable- then next your clan will bail when it looks out of reach. You keep lowering the bar on expectations, so to speak. We just had a war and near the end it was close, but we knew we had the win. The leader and two more of their top 5 bases still had second attacks. Their camps were loaded up with war comp troops. Well they never hit. Looked at their camps later, and they are back to BARCH. Seriously? What kind of message does that send to your clan- leadership has all the other mates train up armies and use attacks...and they wait till the end and decide its out of reach, so the heck with it?
Use the attacks. Always. You want to get better at GoWipe? PentaLooning? Anything else? You use the attacks.
