I was in War, but its finished now! We lost but we should have won if my first attack got at least a couple of stars! I have always farmed, never used gem to upgrade troops! What i found on my first attack was at a certain part of the attack my maxed loons slowed right down so they could get walloped by defending archer towers and my lvl 2lava hounds didnt even last 4seconds! The rage spells were still working when the lava hounds had gone! Tried the same attack again on a very similar base and got 3stars! At least now i have something to go for as 3stars are very very hard to go for at the moment! But on the other hand in wondering why it went wrong in the first attack. My whole clan is wondering aswell, as the bases are very very similar! This is why i think the game has gone ♥♥♥♥!

Try looking at the replays once again. A similar base doesn't the traps placement are the same. Different placement of traps yield different result. Your lava might hit more air traps on your first attack while on your second attack, the trap placement are elsewhere. Air raid become harder since the air sweeper update, but not until you have to be another einstein.

@OP: Are you having issues with troops other than balloons? I've seen some videos were balloons mysteriously do no damage with their attacks. Balloons attack so slow that something like that could change the outcome of the match.

Then again, it could also be that small changes in the defender's base design could throw off your attacks badly.

Without seeing the attacks themselves is hard to tell.

So you maxed th9 and that makes you a war expert? No. Anyone can mindlessly drop barch on collectors and upgrade everything. It doesn't make you good. If you can't 1 star crappy bases it means either the base isn't as crappy as you thought or you are more crappy than the base. Pick 1

It's true CoC has become a very difficult game of late, and personally I am a fan of it. Gone are the days of spamming drags, hogs and loons for an easy 3 star. The changes in difficulty have been gradual at least so there has been an adjustment period for us to get used to the changes. First was giant bombs getting a buff which killed hog attacks for the unskilled. After that they added skeleton traps and doubled the archer tower rate of fire which put a hurt on drag and balloon attacks for the casual player. There have been other tweaks to AI along the way and the addition of the new air sweeper that has made the game even more difficult for the average player.

I understand your pain because it feels as though you are running uphill through quicksand with an anchor tied around your neck. I'm here to tell you that it doesn't have to be that way.

Hybrid strategies are the new way. These days you have to plan your raids in war if you want to go for 3 stars amd I believe that is they was this game is intended to be played. They have nice little abbreviations for the basic framework of the attack like GoHo, but it's not as simple as golems and hogs. You'll need to fill out the attack with wiz, witches, and other troops to get the job done. LaLoon also comes in many forms and thanks to the update you can't just spam it for 3 stars, you have to plan your attack strategically. CoC is a strategy game after all. HoLoWiWi is a good one too, but can't be used on all bases. Then there is LoGoWiPe, GoWiVa and even HoLoVaPe if you are crazy enough to try it!

The thing that they don't tell you when you watch all these videos of perfectly executed raids all over youtube is that these hybrid strategies are boom or bust. Sure they are 3 star strategies but they can just as easily turn into 1 or 0 stars with even a small mistake. Hesitate in your deployment, misplace a spell or have your heroes wander and the attack can go south in a hurry. There is a learning cure to these attacks as well. Your first GoHo isn't going to be 3 stars and I can all but guarantee your first LaLoon is going to fail. Maybe even your first 10 LaLoon attacks!

Anyhow it takes time to master, I'm still fumbling with all these new attacks myself with about a 40% success rate. Trust me the videos make it look easy, they aren't nearly as easy as they look! Good luck and I hope you learn a few new tricks otherwise you are going to miserable every time you play this game!

One of the things I probably enjoy most about this game is picking up some new strat, preferably one which I made up or putting my own twist to an existing strat, and use it like crazy in raids for a few weeks. As I use it again and again I can see the strategy "evolve" as I gain more experience with it. At the same time I'm doing tweaks to improve it further.

Eventually it gets to the point where I start taking on stronger bases, or even finishing off bases without using all spells. It is then I know I have a strong strat.

I think trying too hard ruins it in wars. It's the 3 stars or ♥♥♥♥ mentality which gets me. One little mistake and the attack is ruined. There's no room for experimenting, or learning new things. The attack has to go perfect or else the team misses out on one star which could end up loosing the war.

Do you guys ever find yourself postponing doing a war attack due to the uncertainty of the result?

Before people say just get on with it, and learn some new tactics, Stop! Im lvl 104, th 9, upgraded every single building and wall to max before i upgraded my th. So im not wet behind the ears at the game! eEnough is enough! What are the game designers doing to this game! Its totally far far far too hard to get 1star on ♥♥♥♥ bases now! Its almost inpossible to get 2stars on ♥♥♥♥ bases and its like winning the lottery to get 3stars! Every troop now is ♥♥♥♥ and you need a doctor degree in quanton physics and brain machanics to get a strategy together to win 3stars!!! Stop destroying the game please! You are doing the game no favours and for proof look at what happened to soccer manager! Everyone blanked it because it got too hard! Remember most of your customers are just normal people not Einstein's!!!

Like chess, for someone to win, someone has to lose. It's a zero sum game. If you are consistently losing, perhaps your game needs improvement.
