Barn/Silo Storage - How Much is Enough?

How much storage do you guys generally have and whats a comfortable size to have? I currently have 400 each and I'm thinking to stop expanding. They're seldom filled up totally and I find it a hassle to have to keep so many expansion items while I wait for the last few items.

This is an interesting question ... both my silo and barn are currently at 650 ... but I always have the feeling that I have less room than when I started playing, all the items we need to keep are taking a lot of space!

Around 2000 each gives pretty much freedom, not so often full . Guess it depends on your playing style.

I think the maximum of an item you can have is 999. But you can expand your storage as much as you want

That was a problem with a member off memory also.
Mine are only 925 barn storage and silo 725.
I think as Gep said,2000 for a higher level player is something to strive for.

I feel good with silo's capacity of 525. I even miss I did the last upgrade, 500 would be fine. Note that I have 75% of my land occupied by trees and bushes, vivid and dead, so I don't need that much space to store fruits and berries.

But the barn... It's a disaster. It's now also 525, and at least 250 slots are occupied by silo and land expansion items, as well as shovels and jewelry. I'd be happy to give all that for barn exp., but everyone at trading thread is selling mallets and screws like me, and, like me again, is looking for the stuff to enlarge their barns! For 44th level player, barn's operational capacity of 275 is nothing!

There're 74 different types of goods, from eggs to jelly beans. Smooth play requires storing at least 5 of each. It makes 370. Those that are needed to produce other, like milk, cream, metal bars, or cherry juice, should be additionally accumulated in number of at least 10 - 180 more. Planks, shovels, mallets, etc. may take from 30 to unlimited, but, say it, if it comes above 300, it's time to think of ways to start getting rid of that. And operational space, at least 50...

According to this logic, barn should be capable of at least 900. Oh, where should one take all that duct tape!...

Yes thought it is max 999 per individual item in silo/barn, but expansion(storage space total) can go up to 10000 for both silo and barn

The maximum storage capacity for the barn and silo is 10,000.

You can have more then 999 of 1 particular item in your barn or silo. It did cause an issue for a player in the past and he was locked out of his game for a while however that issue was solved and doesn't cause issues anymore.

How much storage you need depends on your playing style. Once you have all the machines there are over 70 barn products to produce and store not including saws and axes and mining equipment and expansion items.

Currently my barn is 2300 and my silo 1400 and I am still expanding both. My silo is way behind because earlier in the game with limited barn space I prioritized other things. At 400+ barn space it does seem like you are storing a ton of expansion items to upgrade but it can be well worth it. The good news is once you reach 1,000 barn space the increment for each upgrade is 50 instead of 25.

A big silo is useful for 'wheat spamming' or 'wheating'. If you don't need to grow other crops you grow wheat over and over again. By clearing lots and lots of wheat fields you get a lot of expansion items, saws, axes and mining equipment and you are hardly ever short on saws, axes and mining equipment. Items you don't need you can sell or trade. You sell the wheat you grow to these walking visitors. As long as you have at least one of each crop and fruit they will come for the number 1 and 2 item so make sure that's the wheat and corn. The more you have the higher the quantity they want to buy so you can keep this going for quite a while or dump it in your shop at a very low price.

Having a big barn is also useful when you want to hire Tom to stock up on a lot of things. I recently hired him for 10 days to stock up on diamond rings, shovels, necklaces, bracelets and jams. If you want to do something like that you really need a few hundred barn space to start with. He really filled up my barn.

Anyway those are just a few examples of my playing styles and every one should play the way they want to play.

    Thank you TerMinus Prime
