I am a semi new TH9, maxed TH8 defences including walls & troops . What are the most important DE troops to upgrade at the beginning of TH9 & in what order?

depends what attacks you use the most tbh.
If you use air attacks most I'd suggest doing you lava hounds first right off the mark.
But if you like your gowiwi or gowipes I'd suggest upgrading golems to lvl3 then witches to lvl2 then golems to lvl4.
I don't really use hogs so I did them last. As for minions I just did them when I had nothing else to do 👍

Depends on what you use most. If you use air troops, go for lava hounds. If you prefer ground troops, witches will be good.

if you are experienced with Hogs, I would say Hogs. I as a mid to max TH 8 3-star plenty of bases in War with Hogs, and I have 2 good TH 9 who also 3 star often with lv 5 Hogs...
But if you are more trained in GoWiXX-techniques, rather Golem...
In my opinion:
Hogs > Lava Hound > Witch > Golem
GoHo/HoLo/Lavaloon strats are great for early TH9s.

Gold Grab- 350mil|Elixir Escapade- 330mil|Heroic Heist- 850K|Sweet Victory- 2581
Hogs 5 > Hounds 2 > Golem 4 > Witches > Valk 4 (if you like them)
You can do farming troops before golems, and preferably loons before hounds

Hogs were first. they are a stand alone strat, and buff other variants greatly. I did my Minions next so I'd have Max-Loonion9 (and to buff my BAM for farming).
Hounds, Witch (which will max those units for 9 as well) will be next two, then I'll alternate Golem n Valkys. or 2:1 Gol:Valk pattern.
For how I run my War Armies, this path maximizes my 3star potential the most.
I know Gols are important part of land based armies, but L6 Giants are very comparable, and can out DPS/HP the Gol/Golemites..
my L6 Giants finish this week on that acct, so it will buff my War-compos. AQ behind a pack of Giants can do some serious damage
