Lol, I did that so many times. You would think it would be easy considering how many people were complaint about it, but it is surprisingly difficult.

I even followed YT tutorials of OneHive Raids and Reddit Chronicles... And I hadn't succeed...

Lol, all these videos show 3 stars. I've watched a ton of videos and practiced a lot, and I probably average a little less than one 3* a war. With my hero levels and the people who brag on here, you would think I suck.

th9 takes a lot of quality execution and a little luck (on first attacks) against good bases. A lot of small details that have to be taken into consideration. I don't think pentaloon or lavaloonion were too strong because you could make bases that would combat those before air sweepers.

My best chance at a 3* against a quality th9 is with gohowiwi and a scout. That is almost as automatic as it gets, although I have screwed that up a time or two as well! We have a lot of gohowiwi attackers and a ground scout really helps with cleaning up if the first does not net 3*.

I find if they have CC wiz you have to lure them. When I first tried this attack I got 4 3 stars in a row on top TH9s, I thought it was ridiculously overpowered. Then I had several epic failures....and I noted the difference was the CC troops. I was lucky on the first ones they had witches, arches, at most 1 wiz, and a loon. On my failures they had wizards...their splash just wrecks your hounds and pups.

I then lured and got a few 3 stars, but still not everytime which made me a sad panda.

Finally, sine the last update it seems the AQ kill is not really that effective, at least watching my clanmates, so I have not tried it since the update.

3 and one in clan castle should be more than enough...but whatever works for you

I'm a TH9 and I did 3 starred a max TH9 (max defense, lvl 9 & 10 walls, lvl 30 heroes) with this strategy in our previous war, although I always add 5 minions to it for a much faster destruction.

I prefer this combo since I don't have to lure their CC troops and I only have 1 hero available, so I'm only deploying her to clean up and sometimes destroy the TH. This is also the same strategy that I used to 2 star a TH10 with both townhall and 2 infernos in the middle of the base.

I came up to this combo after having no success in quatrolavaloons. Minimum of 2 stars with Pentalavaloonion for me.
