I am going to TH 9 and was wondering what should I upgrade with elixir first the spell factory or the lab? For the gold I plan on upgrading my cc, and for dark elixir the queen will be my first investment. Thanks for your advice!

The spell factory will give you the most benefit in the next week or two. However, the lab upgrade allows research to begin so it is sort of like having an extra builder (doing troop research).

TH 11 lvl 178 max walls; 45/45/20 heroes
TH 10 lvl 148 91 magmas; 40/40 heroes
TH 9 lvl 124 250 lavas; 30/30 heroes
Lab, got to keep it running. It should never top researching. Then work on your SF and army camps. Get all of those maxed before doing anything else other than research. Offense comes first.
Why can't you do both lab and sf? I will be moving to th9 in the next day and plan to use On both the above and dump the gold into new walls

Must keep that lab going. Level 6 troops help with the farming.
Also work those achievements to get the free gems so you can get the extra builders.
You need to upgrade both lab and spell factory first at th9. Even if you only have 2 builders...use 1 to build the AQ then put them on the lab and SF.

This is one reason I pushed to get my 5th builder before going to TH9, there is a lot that needs to be done right away. Lab and spell factory are most important, Queen is next, then Camps, then Barracks. My last DE drill is upgrading then all of the elixir upgrades are done besides goblins and healers, then all walls. For gold I did CC and 1 xbow right away. The xbows really help on defense, after they were both built I rarely get attacked, leave TH outside.
I would get a 4th builder. The upgrades are a grind at TH9.
