Okay, so I hope I do not offend anyone... But have they not invented sarcasm in the UK yet? I have been told the majority of British ppl do not enjoy American comedies such as Seinfeld. Is it possible to not like Seinfeld? Or is this person just odd?

Just wondering because sometimes in late nite clan chat (UK busy time), I hear crickets when I crack a joke. Or I say something obviously facetious & they take it literally. I know people have various senses of humor... But Seinfeld?? Come on!

Sarcasm is a British staple, Americans struggle with it far more, it is a well established fact.

Seinfeld is big over here and enjoyed by many. I guess it reflects on who you are speaking too rather than the UK.

Wow.. I have been reading some other forums online, and I believe you are right. I guess I was just frustrated with one particular person last night for being so uptight. I never realized how often I have to actually announce my sarcasm to Americans (often = every time). My family even looks at me weird most times... I think I was switched at birth?

Lol maybe you just have that poker face. My family has trouble reading my sarcasm too and I am American (u.s.)
