First, Archers attacks from a distance and over walls. This keep them safer from being attack by several defenses and also no need to break walls. Also a good point is that they spread when attacking certain building while barbs come into a certain point to attack.

Second, archers train faster than goblin slower than barbs. So as much as you add goblins you will be adding more time to build your army

Third, goblin have a favorite target which is great when attacking those but what if there is a WT/Mortar protecting area?

Goblin might help in certain cases but as I have said before only 2 times I wished I had 10 or 20 goblins and the rest of my over 10k attacks I wouldn't benefit from goblins.
    I was simply quoting stats...

Guess it all depends on your ultimate goal in an attack....in a mixed hog army goblins are incredibly efficient at opening a path to cores where people store resources next to town halls. The speed with which goblins will tear through walls in pack is quite amazing if you watch it. Few archers to clean up the non collector trash and heroes have a freeway leading right to the middle.

Very rarely do I argue with golbins AI. They have one job and they do it well. The rest of the troops often leave me scratching my head, but goblins find the loot every time.

Yall inspired me to upgrade my goblins finally, starting level 6 upgrade tonight. Anyhow, I can't find much on goblin strategy. Anyone have links or tips for elixir farming?

Goblins are an acquired taste. You either love them or hate them. Use them all the time or never use them at all. There's no middle ground.

I used to farm in champs lge with a combination of 200 goblins and 20 minions with a cc of balloons and minions.

This was back in the day when pretty much every other base was a southern teaser style with all the storages front and centre as opposed to the current square base style that is every bodies favourite at the moment.

It was often possible to send the goblins in quickly at the bottom to nab all 9 storages plus a few of the mines and collectors as well. balloons with minions spread out at the top got your percentages up and after that if the 50% was on you sent heroes in to get the rest (mine were low level back then and somewhere in their teens).

I can't say that i won every attack with this combo in fact i lost a lot but as i was farming it didn't matter, i guess probably won about 1 in 10 or so and when i did i always liked to imagine the look on the players face when he saw his maxed out base getting 1 starred with goblins and a handful of minions!
