I'll probably just get my heroes to level 15 and then upgrade my town hall, I will still do some wall upgrades during that time. I want to max my walls, but half a year sounds like a long time to do one type of structure.

If you war a lot, then there will be a huge advantage for you to start TH10 with L 20 hero's. Walls in war are more so for intimidation; to scare off the weak hearted. A skilled TH10 will just use two jumps or an air attack which will ignore your wall level anyways. However, hero's will make the difference between you attack mid-high level TH10 and getting 2-3 stars easily or getting 0-1 very often. The L 20 hero's will also make it much easier for you to 3 star those pesky max th9 with all lavas when the high level TH9 in your clan are finding it difficult.
Are all your troops and spells maxed?

I'm in the same boat.
I'm a maxed 9 with 65 lvl 8 walls left
Queen is going to 19 and king is 16
Still need to do 2 more upgrades on valks
Once my lab is idle, I'll go to 10 regardless
of where my walls are.
That will take about 4 weeks which will bring both heros
to 20 by the time my th is upgraded
