Purringcat's Farming guide for TH10 (fresh to new)
I know this guide will not be as detailed as some out there, nor will everyone agree that this is the one and only method for farming at th10. But this is what I’ve been doing and it seemed to be paying off. Finishing my walls made me wanna share my strategy with others, seeing it all turn blue without spending gems really gives you a sense of accomplishment (abeit a little sad haha #nolifer!)
Result of all the farming.

Finally I’m done with walls.
My Base Currently (image taken from a friend's account)
I’m currently in TH10 (1.8b GG 1.8b EE 3.8m HE), my base is not max'ed out yet. My BK(26) and AQ(31) are also not maxed out either. I finished off my TH9 journey with my king(16) and queen(18) being under level 20 each as well. I did manage to get my walls up to level 10 when i was at TH9 which forced me to move up to th10 since i had nothing left to farm for other than heroes.
I had about 4-5k gems that i used only to finish up the king or queen build times when my DE storages were reaching max. Like i said i'm not the perfect player.
My strategy:
- Single Player Maps (Goblins) are important! Save them
I knew early on when i was at th7/8 that the upgrades at TH10 that would be the most crippling would be the ones that cost 8m, so i saved all those goblin map (single player) missions for th10. So that once i upgraded something that cost 8m in gold or elixir, i could just go to the goblin map and replenish my resource and continue farming without having to wait for resource from collectors.- Save up before going into TH10
About 2 days before I went into TH10, i move all my collectors into my base and move out my defenses and TH. This allowed me to save up 2 days worth of resource in my collectors that were untouched or partially raided. You might be a prime target for others but 20% of 100% is better then 100% of 0. Having this extra 200-300k in both resources helps a lot especially after you have put down the 2 new inferno towers and xbow.
Also, take part in clan wars till you fill out your CC loot, don’t use it up, Save it. That’s an extra 1m in resource right there.
Finding loot at th10 is way harder then th9, so its best to bring as much loot as you can to help ease the pain.- Upgrade priority
Everyone has a different system of priority. Mine was for optimum farming and getting my base as ready as possible for war.
*If you can sit out of clan wars for about a month. This will give you a fair amount of time to get your base as ready as possible for clan wars. Plus its a lot more fun to come out after a month and have a (ta-daah) moment and show off to your friends or clan mates.
- Inferno tower x2
These take a continuous build time of 31 days (hence the month break. Doing this will also keep 2 of your builders occupied fully. I suggest having a single day break in between starting each upgrade. I learnt the hard way and realize that farming 8m gold at TH10 was not as easy as at th9.- Spell Factory and Laboratory
Getting these up asap is important, you need freeze spells to be effective in wars when going up against others with inferno towers.
*not really need but it sure helps having them.- Army Camps
The extra 20 unit space is wonderful for both farming and attacking during wars.- Clan Castle
Another 5 unit space when attack.- Xbow
Send your two level 3 xbows to level 4 and start working on that level 1 xbow. Once done leave that lone builder to bring that last xbow up to level 4.- Heroes
Now someone looking at my base would wonder, why should I listen to this guy his base issint even close to being max, most of his defenses are still at a th9 level. The thing is im taking TH10 slow and I intend to get my heroes up to level 40 as soon as possible. So technically I only have 3 builders free to do any upgrades in my base (this will depend on how much DE you can raid per day, I average about 20k per day). Eventually when my heroes start reaching their 30s I wont be able to have both of them upgrading non-stop and they will have to start alternating due to their costs.
Having level 40 heroes is important, and is essential to your end-game whether it be war or trophy pushing, why delay the very thing that will take the longest to accomplish?- Tesla & Air defense.
This is where I disagree with most guides. Most of them say upgrade your splash damage towers (Motars / Wizard Towers). I disagree. At TH10 if you have decent walls, chances are barch is not going to destroy your base, and even then, most Barchers bring lighting spells just to clear out your splash structures.
At TH10 during wars, your are going to be attacked by either GoWiPe, GoWiWi or LaLoons. Teslas shred Pekkas and Air Defense does what it can against Lava hounds and loons, hardly do you see such attacks fail because of splash defences (maybe if they kill the wall breakers early on).
So get the defenses that actually matter.- Mortar v Wizard Tower ?
Wizard Tower hands down, it attacks both air and ground, it actually is beneficial in wars against clustered balloons and gives decent barcher protection out of wards.- Mortar v Cannon v Archer Tower ?
Archer tower then Cannon, point defense is important. How often have we seen that lone pekka trying to make its way around a base only to be targeted by a point defense and get wasted?- Mortar v Air Sweeper
This is a tossup for me. If you are active in wars, I suggest leveling up the Air Sweeper as a priority over Mortars. But if you are not then just get them Mortars up and enjoy watching those great big balls of fire (marvelous aren’t they!)- Cannons
Finally get those bad boys up and start making them turn red.- Walls
The very part of CoC they gave me some purpose on a daily basis. I knew I was a fairly hardcore player. I wasn’t the sort that was content waiting around for a build to become free. So I always kept a builder free (see why its taking me so long, 2 on heroes, 2 on buildings) to work on walls.
I set myself a goal of at least 2 walls a day, a very plausible goal, only 4m gold and 4m resource daily. On some days I met the goals and on others if I was free I was able to farm up 4-6 walls (Golden hour I love you).- Golden Hour
For anyone who enjoys farming or raiding this is THE most important time. This is the time after a maintenance break or a patch. When servers go down, bases that have just come out of being shielded become available for raiding, also for the time the servers are down collectors are filling up. Ive managed to farm about 5m gold 5m elixir in 2 hours (boosted barching) during such times.- Farming
There is no optimum way of farming, there’s no golden set of troop composition that works for everyone. Some like Barch / BAM others like Garch or even GWiz or Balloonian.
When Im studying and I know that I will take 5-10 min breaks every 1 hour, I will build an army using giants archers and wall breakers. Or if im at work and I know that I only have a break at lunch time, I might build a gowipe army (its fun crushing someone’s base during lunch, it puts a smile on my face). Or if it’s the end of week and Im rewarding myself with a solid 2 hour session then I default back to barcher.
Find a composition that works around your lifestyle, play the game and don’t let the game play you.- The optimum zone
This depends on how you farm, if you are using Giants Archers maybe being in Master league 3 is better since the loot bonus is good and since its generally harder to get a successful 1 star attack using barcher (maybe, I never really had any issue with most bases).
The zone that works for me is 2000-2400. Hovering around crystal 3 and 2 gave me that extra loot bonus that made a 100k 100k base seem worthwhile attacking than spending another 30-40k pressing next.- Lighting!
Omg Purringcat you still lighting people ? Why not ?
its part of the game, i dont mind converting about 100k elixir into 2k DE. Yes its frowned upon but hey dont hate the player hate the game. There's no honour amongst thieves and we're here to steal them loots! so just steal it.
It takes 2.5 hours to get 5 lighting spells, if you are awake 17 hours a day, that means that your have the opportunity to zap someone at least 6 times in a day. Assuming that you find a base with at least 3-4k DE. zapping it gets your at least 1.8-2k DE. Thats a whooping 12k DE. Pair this up with the fact that you have DE drills that net you about 5k daily (my 3rd drill is not maxed out yet). Thats 17k DE easy. Raiding people about 10 times a day with an average DE return of 500. That's an additional 5k. 22k DE earned taking breaks during revision.
At the end of the day, the goal is to become a formidable enemy with awesome defence and great offensive capability. CoC can be made easier if we all play it in a way that suits us and not let other's determine how we should play the game.
This guide is just a reflection of how i play CoC at TH10 with my sights set on getting 40/40 heroes![]()
Special Thanks to UnitySharp, your guide was wonderful to read, i wish i had read it when i was at the start of my TH9 Journey and not when i was 3/4 through, i might have had 30/30 heroes then.
