Something Other than Dragons!?!

I am a mid lvl TH8 and need to learn a new war attack besides dragons. I can't seem to 3 star a TH8 that has 3 level 6 air defenses! Besides my lvl 3 dragons my troops consist of lvl 5 wiz...lvl1 PEKKA...lvl 4 barbs, archers, Giants and loons...lvl2 minions and hogs. With this troop composition is there another attack strategy I can use to 3 star an upper level TH8, or do I just need to upgrade more? Any help/advice/YouTube link woul be appreciated

The simple answer is no, not with those troop levels.

Get the hogs up to 4 and that gives you a solid alternative to dragoon attacks, which become much tougher against maxxed TH8's anyway.

Dragoon rules upto mid to late TH8, but beyond that the strongest attack a TH8 has against another is hogs.

The other alternatives are GiWiPe, which will only work on certain bases (but much stronger with backend loons), or GoViz. Both attacks need golems levelled up, and either Pekka or Valks upgraded.

FWIW I think GoViz is the stronger of the two attacks.

A further option is Giant healer Hogs (GiHeHo), but I never played with it at TH8 so no clue how it would fare with level 5 giants.

Some of our TH8s use hogowipe to 3 star enemy maxed TH8 bases. You might want to give it a try. 2 Golems, 2 Pekkas, 14 Wizs, 9 WBs, the rest Archers and Max hogs in the CC.

I've also seen all dragons with hogs in CC 3 star max TH8 bases.

besides dragons and dragloon, i have made it clear to all TH8's in the clan that we expect them to step it up and be able to GoHo, GoWiPe and of course Hog.

Having alternatives makes you much more versatile against all those anti drag bases and dont forget the air sweeper.

What I prefer for War are Hogs! Even with lv 1 Hogs you can 3 star another TH8, but only if you are used to them and there are no Giant bombs inside the base... With lv 3 Hogs become a solid 3 star troop and of course more than ever if they are Lv 4! There are several compositions for Hogs, for example HoWi, GoHo, HoLo GoVaHo and so on...

I prefer HoWi! 27-30 Hogs to take out all the defense, wizards for CC-troops killing and cleaning up.

But, some base designs are made to stop Hogs(but there are not many using them). If there could be Double Giant Bombs, don´t use Hogs!

Another solid strategy is Gowipe. But in my opionion only a solid 2 star strategy in most cases.

I prefer Gowiva! I normally use 2 Golem, 7-10 Valkyries Rest Wizards and some Wallbreakers(Gowipe would be 2-3 Pekka instead of the Valkyries). Works pretty fine! Advantage towards Gowipe: Valkyries are much faster and have splash damage. In the best case, they damage 4 buildings at once with a hit. Often I see Gowipe attacks failing because the Pekka is not going into the village or the wizards outrun the Pekka/Golem and the get killed too early.

That barely happens with Gowiva because they are much faster!

At some bases I even use Giants/Wizards with success. But it only works at few base designs and additionally you have to be very used with this technique, but if you are, it works fine!

Regardless of whether strategy you want to try, train it with multiplayer attacks. Dragons will work decreasingly on your way to a max TH 8 and the other strategies aren´t that easy anymore where simply deploying a mass of one troop is enough to win!

But if you get used to it, Hogs(in which composition you ever prefer) or Gowiva are a very solid strategy with a great chance to 3-star most bases. Gowipe is a solid 2 star strategy imo, you have to train a lot with it to make 3 stars often.

NICE! As a near max th8, this is just what I was waiting for. Can't wait to try GoWiVa, heard of it before, which spells are used btw, 2 rage and a heal? Which cc troops?

As a th8 you could use hogs based attacks like goho, howiwi and holo. Upgrade your hogs to at least lv 3 for the safe bet againts single giant bomb. And dont do 1-finger drop when you deploy your hogs, use 2- finger drop or asian wall instead.
