TH9 Farm Base: Not My Vault!

Not My Vault! - A TH9 Farm Base

Not My Vault! is an original farm base design I've been using and refining for the better part of 4 months. It started off as a design exercise in how I could design a "one-sided base" which gives attackers very different attacking decisions - hopefully to their detriment. I have always thought of "Vault" bases to generally suck, but I think that's because the defenses are spread around the vault too much. Not My Vault! is an attempt to create a better vault.

    Design Principles

    • Giving attackers two (or 3) very different attack options is the key to this base. One side is clearly more heavily defended with walls (and traps?) while the south side is more point defense heavy. Does an attacker chose top, bottom, or a side?
    • Both top and bottom attack routes are clear "dividers," meaning the attacking troops will either split left/right around the core, or they will all funnel to one side.
    • Area damage (mortars/wizards) are put towards the "back" of the base, which makes archers/barbs/gobs more prone to dying if they make it to the core from the south. Since all area damage defenses can reach the northern zone, this kills groups of giants very quickly, so the attacker needs to use several heals before reaching the core.
    • The side compartments appear almost empty from an attacker's perspective, so sometimes they will attempt to stream archers/gobs into them to get "easy" resources. The small bombs, teslas, and wizard towers ensure they don't live long. The lack of visible defenses in these compartments divert giants around into the top or bottom sections.
    • The south side uses both walls and dead space to keep small units moving around the base. Once the southers walls are breached, the small units will usually cluster into a big group, increasing the effectiveness of the GBs, mortars, and wiz towers.

Come on kid. You're a TH10 (probably gemmed) an you're giving us defense logs of you being attacked by level 1 golems and Lvl 4 archers.

Your base is also extremely simple.

Sadly I have to agree.... Push up to c1/m3 and see how your base fares. anyone can get snipes and TH7's to hit them at 1500 cups.

No double giant bombs - hogs would have a field day here.

Any lavaloon based army would tear this apart.

4 wallbreakers and a TH8 GoWipe could take everything inside your base...

If I saw this base while barching in Masters I would go steal the loot from storages.

TIP: Go higher league and show actual attacks if you want some credibility on your base.

Hi MyUsernameIs, let me see if I can assuage your concerns that I "probably gemmed" to TH10. Although not indicative of my individual skill level, it's probably worth pointing out the number of clan war wins our clan has. I'm probably a really bad player, regardless.

And hello, ThePeskyDingo! I don't want you to feel left out, so let me see if I craft some sort of rebuttal for your arguments. Considering you mentioned trophy pushing this base up into Crystal/Masters, you probably overlooked the part of the post where I stated this base is a farming base. I know "farm base" is in the thread title, and I have asked SuperCell if they can make the threat title font size larger to prevent misunderstandings such as this one. Simply put, this base is for loot farming, not cup pushing.

Also, it's funny that you mention a TH8 Gowipe with 4 wallbreakers, because that's exactly first attack that you see in the replays. He didn't quite have enough to steal significant loot, I'm afraid. I have no doubt that had you been the person leading that attack, you would have easily leveled my base to the tune of 100%.

I appreciate your constructive comments, guys! Also, it's worth mentioning that sometimes a base can look more simple than it really is.

    Happy clashing!

In fact that was a GoWiPe attack - 4 wbs from a TH9 and used all heroes + 4 spells.
I like how the south point defenses can't be picked off by archers, but they can still deal dmg to them.

The main weakness of your base is I think how 4 wbs can easily break through the core (from bottom).
Say, I'd attack from the southeast side. It'll destroy the south-east point defenses allowing goblins go into the core.
There are 8 splash damage buildings inside the core but I think a healing spell which can cover the 3 gold storages + 1 DE storage would make the splash a little bit useless.

As a TH9 myself, when people say 'test the base in crystal league+' I don't pretty much agree with them.
I usually offer 300k+ gold, 300k+ elixir and 2.800 DE to TH9s. But the thing is when I log off it will only take me around 4 minutes to get my TH sniped.
It has been 20 defenses and it's all TH snipes when I offer 2k+ DE each defense..
Meanwhile, when I am gold 2 (around 1700) I will get raided hard more often like with lavaloon strats or giant-based attack with lv20 heroes and 5 spells...

You are absolutely correct about point defenses being unreachable by archers. This causes the giants/golems to separate from the small troops and when archers need to move in, they actually run around to where the hole in the wall is. This clusters them together and allows the GBs and mortars to kill them very quickly.

I'm not saying this base is perfect against any attack. Lavaloon has straight crushed my base, but you rarely see that down in Gold. This base is purely for farming down where loot is plentiful and attacks aren't super powerful. Surprisingly, hogs usually don't do well against my base. The most effective attackers all have one thing in common: patience.

This base is really pointless imo. 2 storages are barely protected and the others are easily wb'd or jump spelled. 3 compartments is bad, once in the center you're gonna lose anything in there. Like others said, c1 or m3 show replays from there.
