Pol: Is Spying a Problem?

Now come on guys, it's one thing to get upset because it has "Spy" in the title, it's a completely different thing to say that there have been several polls on this.

I did a search, I didn't see any, am I missing something?

ill find you some... Sometimes they turn into flame wars and get deleted but I'm sure a few still exsist..

We will start with a small one

i list this one because it's the one that came closes to even... As you will see from the others as I find them, the anti spy option usually loses by a bigger margin. Searching sucks here...

I have seen other polls. But most of them were from people feeling violated that they got taken advantage of and were written more to grind the ax (I.E. having choices like "Yes, I think spies should be stopped" and "Yes, I think spies are a problem but I want them to ruin the game", and no third choice. Stuff like that) than as true fact finding efforts. I think yours is more pragmatic and evenly sided in its tone. You have two for Yes its a problem and 2 for No its not a problem with an "I care, and I don't if they make a change regarding it" under each. That's pretty even and unbiased plus it allows slicing the info different ways.

As far as the rest of this debate, lets let it be about fact finding. What I read above I think some here are more treating the forum like a contest to prove themselves to be more right than the next guy than as a place to discuss and get to the right answer. Self affirmation is being sought harder than the truth. So to avoid that lets hold the remaining debate and just let the poll run.

Search feature does kind of stink at times. There is a helpful tag system at the buttom of the thread, but it is so easy to miss that most people don't realize it is there. I just added 'poll' and 'spying', which can be clicked and given other threads with those tags. However, any tag can be made, just by typing up a new one, and if you make a mistake, you can't remove it.

And yeah, comments like bluebird22's "not an issue, grow up" doesn't help matters. It adds nothing but insults to the thread. At the very least, if you are going to go so far as to insult someone's mental maturity on a forum for an age 13+ game, at least put in a reason why we should even believe you, and not pass you off as some useless ranter that parrots advice that everyone has said who knows how many times.

Don't be too insulted. At least I care enough to tell you what a possible common perception is of your post. Others would just insult back and just make things worse.

Yeah the tag system doesn't work as well as it should. Partly because most posters don't use it, and partly because you still need to know what key words they chose.

i further confuse it by using it as my personal subscription service, tagging threads I want to come back to based not on subject but on my interest.... And in the interest of complete disclosure, sometimes that interest is just wanting to follow a flame war.... Curiosity and cats you know......

I do appreciate your honesty although I don't always agree with it. I get that the thread is going to immediately invoke some poor responses from people. Until dude above posted the previous polls, I have not seen one, and I searched and did not find any. Seeing those though, I cannot say with confidence that they were not biased (one was from the thread: War Spying Must be Stopped (Followed by several Fists)) and the questions were either contradictory, measuring different things, or completely out of left field. This, at least my attempts, was to have a continuum of response from one extreme to the other (also not allowing others to vote all of them which was in a previous poll).

Either way, I don't expect the results of this poll will change your mind, but I am, thus far at least, surprised with the amount of people who simply view it as a part of the game compared to the people who want it gone.

You do have a point. Many of these threads attract the same posters over and over and they make the same points in each one. Sometimes it can get frustrating so I see where you are coming from...

some of them even cut and paste the same thing over and over and don't bother coming up with a new comment. Those are the ones that drive me crazy..... You know the type.............................................. ....

I think it's a real statement about the feelings among those that vote that even in the ones clearly intended to sway the vote towards their point of view, they still can't get a majority. Not that it matters, if I've learned anything here, some topics will never die.....even when supercell gives in (name change) the threads still keep coming.... Oh well. Gives us something to do while armies build...

My reason is because of this.

Let's say there is a new clan called Clash Attacks and all they had was 10 members and they are a hardcore war clan and this is their first war and they always war so they have to recruit during war.

Let's say a member of the clan their facing called Cryton wasn't in that war so the clan tells him to ask to join (they are always recruiting so they don't close their clan.) and the member who let's say is Dyno and he asks Clash Attacks to join and they check the opposing clan and he isn't in it so they let him in.

Then he talk to the clan, donates troops, shares replays while looking at the bases.

After he has his information he goes back to his old clan and share the opponents war based with them.

But checking the clan right after war search ends can also be helpful to know who to and who not to let join your clan if recruiting.

You may be surprised to learn that this game is about war. There is nothing fair in war. There is no need for the ridiculous tagging warren keeps going on about. I'll make it short and sweet: If you don't want to be spied on, close your clan.

Lets say the Clash Attacks had their bases really well designed so they did not care the guy was spying and even knew the whole time and simply had a good time chatting him up before they went and won the war.

or

Lets say they left it wide open but the other clan did not spy because they could not be bothered to do all that work for very little gain outside of what they could just figure out themselves. And so instead they did just figure it out themselves and won because of that.

I actually think scenario three is more viable than my first two and really any of yours. And my middle one is the second most viable one here.

What I DON"T want is for this to turn into a hate thread so no need for that. Warren is presenting the best received solution should one be implemented.

So, we rarely get spied on (or attempted - invite only) so it doesn't seem that "common" of practice IMHO. So I am guessing there is a population here somewhere, who DOESN'T want any changes, but also doesn't spy themselves. So I do want to know why people want to allow spying if they do not do it themselves. Don't misread, I am not looking for hate, it's just a rarely expressed feeling since most threads are anti-spy. I just feel as if there must be some other motivation (clans who allow it deserve it, I got spied on so other people should to, people should be allowed to play how they want) or something that fuels the stance.
