I'm currently hovering around 2500 or so cups with a Master III badge. It's a pretty good alternative if champs seems like a dead end. Bonus is still respectable at 100/100/500, more snipes and collector raids available, and plenty of rushed TH9 bases to take advantage of [you'll see offerings from Crystal II and I, so there's a huge difference].

Barch for 50% and take a snipe if you find it, waste of time and boring af to just search for snipes.
TH10: farming heroes and defenses
GG: 850 mil|EE: 832 mil|HH: 4.3 mil
BK: lvl 34|AQ: lvl 31|Lavas: 250/275
Is the best barch strategy to still drop barbs in a circular motion around the base and then do the same with archers? I'm hovering around crystal 1 and master 3. I nexted quite a bit last session, but I'm paranoid to try any attacks without knowing for sure I'll get the TH and the 1 star b/c one less is such a set back.
I'm a TH8 with lvl 5 barbs/arch lvl 10 BK

Reav3r, i've currently been trying out your theory to see if its true. As a Town Hall 8 I was in Silver 3, in a day i pushed to crystal 2 , around 2300 trophies. However now it has dried up with snipes. Im nexting for atleast an hour. This just got me wondering that if i'm starting to struggle now then what would it be like in champions? I've been sniping with Barbarian King which is L10.
I've been cooking around 9 x L3 dragons and 10 x L4 minions, level 3 dragon also in CC with some L5+ Wizards. I'm currently a near maxed TH8; all that is left to do is:
100 or so L8 walls
Valks to level 2
Golems to level 2.
I know I'm near maxed and some people would say whats the point but I would love to accomplish this achievement and also once I'm at Town hall 9 I've heard the master league is good for loot bonus and some farming bases also so I can always drop down once/if I reach Champions!
I would appreciate it if any of you could give me some advice.
I'm pretty much in exact same situation. I'm wondering if since we are near max TH8's this has passed us up. I get to about 2,550 then get attacked for -30 trophies. Raid for about an hour, get 1-2 snipes and 1-2 attacks to get those trophies back just to get attacked again for -30.
At this point I'm only seeing mid TH9s that offer 17-20ish trophies that I have very little chance of 3 starring. And near max TH8s that only offer single digit trophies. It's annoying to see a high lvl TH9 get 30 trophies from me.
I'm a th9 currently in M3 but quickly working up to Champs. I'm not finding a lot of snipes (1-3/hr) I am finding lots of 50% barch bases. It's going really well. Can't wait for the larger bonus in champs.
After thinking about it for awhile, it doesnt make sense to me to do it. I find easy barch bases with 250k+ each in the collectors in gold 1 to crystal 2. The higher I go, the more I next to find them. To me I would rather boost 2 barricks and make 3 million gold and 3 million elixer in 2 hours roughly then go to champs and get over 1 million for two hours of sniping/50 percenting empty collector bases. Sure the DE bonus is sweet but I can search for easy 800+ de bases to farm if thats my focus. Time is loot!!
If the badge or the achievment are what your after then, go for it but I think you can earn more loot quicker by staying lower. I only say this because as I was doing this, I quickly discovered I wasnt making the gold I needed for my upgrades quick enough and hate idle builders. I stoped at Mid Masters 3. I am now happily back floating in low crystal 3.
