Yes I thought the same. It would be a big surprise moment, but I think it is better this way. Dragon attacks should not be based on luck, but on skill.
I do. As it is you just attack from behind it, not a massive adjustment. Not knowing which way it is facing or where it is before attack would be much more challenging.
It would be best (imo) if it faced one direction and then started spinning, confusing the attacker, but still locking onto one place.
Sea Turtle
I don't think so.
It would make attacks too random and I have a feeling people would be frustrated with the "luck" around it. The second attacker in a war would be able to get 3 stars by simply attacking from another direction. With this new defensive tower that can potentially destroy a less-than-optimal army placement, you don't want that placement to be depending on luck of the draw.
yea its already pretty strong against dragons and loons, no need to make it invis too.
If not invisible, what about not seeing what way its pointing?

No. I don't think it was meant as a surprise, or random. I think it is meant mainly as a deterrent (from approaches and troop composition). It wouldn't be a deterrent if you didn't know where it was.
