    Be Ready or Be Sorry?

Why on earth would they add a feature that makes it so "you cannot end war attacks early without surrendering"?

This just seems stupid...I don't think I've ever seen someone end a war attack early when they had a shot of picking up additional stars, but say the only thing you've got alive is a golem banging against a wall, and you're at 70% and 2 stars. Obviously there's no way the golem is going to get you that last star, so what is the point of letting the clock run out for another 30 seconds or a minute? The real issue though would be with heroes. Yeah, you could pick up another 5 or 10%, but you can usually tell if you have a shot at picking up a third star, and if you don't, why not have the option of saving some regen time?

It's to stop players who do not play fairly by working around the technology ...

There's currently a loophole where some players can hit "Attack," then disconnect/end the attack and have it play out offline so they can "practice" hitting a base before their real attack.

This changed functionality (by having the "safe point" be at army review rather than at "attack") blows up those who do not play fairly who have been working through that loophole.

    GREAT WORK SUPERCELL!!!

So if you accidentally hit attack, but don't drop any troops, you're SOL? Or you're saying they fixed that so it won't happen (because I've done that a couple times either by accident or on purpose, and it wasn't because I was trying to practice.)

Correct, you are SOL with a 0* and a used attack.

I usually hit attack and "scout" my drop points ect, but once you hit attack from the war map, your attack is counting.

A few times Ive seen a hole in someone's base and backed out, and planned a few troops mid battle for that hole, but there's no more backing out now

Haven't tried it yet, but I believe when you hit attack (accidentally or not), you'll get a popup of your army composition with something like "Are you sure you're ready to attack Chief?" with red warnings of heros are sleeping, not at max troops, etc.

Hit yes, and you are committed. Hit no, and the attack is canceled.

So, there's still a level to back out. (I'm sure we'll see the details with our next war day attacks.)

Simply put: It's a different sequence to start your war attack that prevents players who dishonestly ghost attacks.

no, if you accidentally hit attack and then accidently confirm the attack in the troop review screen, then you are SOL

as it is, I happen to be about 4 hours into a war when the update hit
its rediculous how many on the other team are making 1second attacks without realizing their ♥♥♥♥♥ isint working anymore. about 6 wasted attacks so far

Previous version: You accidentally hit attack AND you accidentally drop a troop, you are SOL.

New version: You accidentally hit attack AND you accidentally confirm your army, you are SOL.

So, just as much "protection" against accidentally starting as there was before.

LOL at all of the clans who ghost war attacks and will mess themselves up until they figure out it doesn't work any more!

    ♥♥♥♥

So I guess Supercell wasn't entirely clear with the update because I totally missed the purpose of it (since I don't ghost, and neither does anyone in my clan).

I'm also assuming that it doesn't affect the scenarios I originally posted about...that once you get a star in battle, you can end the attack and you won't be surrendering, just like it works in multiplayer.
