I agree... My go to army is 38 lvl4 hogs & 10 archers + drag & archers in cc... I can 3* ANY TH8 base but sometimes it's close, Heal spells have to be perfectly placed... Maybe a 2* on low to mid th9... Diddly squat on any th10, especially with infernos...

Im doing this strategy, but Im still thinking about building the air sweepers. Does it add a lot of weight?

Ive found no need for the air sweeper. Currently my ads are lvl2. I get attacked by lvl3 dragons every war and they never 3*. The dragons get stuck in the middle and the remaining ads just keep pounding them. I also have the air bombs and mines nesr the ads. Aur sweepers are not needed with this strategy.

I'm still progressing with only 2 mortars and 2 wizard towers at TH8. I'm going to work on my troops and such more, but I do see the advantage here. I'll probably go to TH9 once I max out my king and all of my dark troops.

That would work. If I may offer a suggestion, I'd keep going to th9 then stop to work on heroes and troops. At th9 you can get level 6 loons which are great for war, 220 troops, the aq, and de is way easier to get vs th8. You can also upgrade your walls to level 9 which means you have a spot to dump excess elixer. Don't believe the loot penalty thing I'm always overflowing with loot which goes into walls. The way I see it there is very little disadvantage to going to th9 and a lot of advantages. Neither choice is wrong. Just letting you know what I've done and I think I've been very successful with this strategy.
P.S. I don't remember what my war weight is but I'm a equal to a low th8.

True but then you start getting into the walls adding to much to war weight. As the OP said go to level 9.
