on my newbie account I got kicked because I wasn't in silver despite being invited and did nothing else they said I could come back and I am currently undecided whether I will, but the point is that kicking would give me a 'negative stat' though it has no reflection on my ability or my temperament. I have also left about 5 clans in one day because they were terrible. Based on this alone I would show up as a hopper no doubt - and no-one would want me.

I don't necessarily think this would label you a hopper. I expect that every person in the game, when they first started, took a good amount of time to find a clan they want to be in. With the information available, people (or at least I) would look at my current clan members, find out who has the "worst" record and use that as a baseline to judge other people off of. I think if someone has been in 20 different clans and has been booted once, that is a good sign. Without knowing what people average in this, there is no way to say what people will automatically consider a "bad record".

What if they did it in like a clans/day average. If someone averages a clan every other day, that isn't good, but it would take your 5 clans and average out across the time you have been playing and probably look pretty good.

Either way, super cell's long standing policy of no negative stigmas (which I haven't seen linked anywhere come to think of it) will probably prevent this from happening. I'm still okay with it if it happens but overall it will not affect me or my clan, if it was implemented, it would affect my clan positively I suspect, but some individual players negatively.

well it has only been two days but yeah I guess over time it won't be a bad stat, poor waldermar is still currently clanless.

I bet Waldermar could find a clan to be in and if he puts some time in and does well he will become a more desirable clan member. Teaching real life lessons in clash of clans right?!?

A hopper could ruin your clan.

If your clan is free co then they will kick everyone off your clan.

I would only support this option when/if they add a clan search engine. Right now it is impossible to find a decent clan in game. I probably went through 20 of them trying to find one that I wanted to spend a week in the first time. Sometimes several in a day just to get away from potty-mouthed temper tantrums.

Fortunately, offering "free co" is a very easy problem to solve.

That actually makes the most sense. Maybe the problem isn't necessarily the hopping, but the lack of functionality in finding a suitable clan right off the bat. The best bet right now is trial and error which to the clans who unfortunately don't meet the members criteria, appears as a hopper or poor clan member.

Ice, that comment sold me actually, the problem isn't necessarily hopping (or at least to the extent that everyone believes it is) hopping is a symptom of the current way people need to find clans.

I think you won the internet and perhaps stumbled on an idea that would improve the game and minimize hopping.
