Is it wrong for a clan leader to ban defense upgrades for war purposes?

This is isn't wrong by any means, just a clear sign that you and the clan have different goals and playing styles. Your leader is running his clan like the average serious war clan by today's standards. Ours is run the same way. In fact just yesterday one of our co's told someone he should cancel his xbow upgrade because he wasn't ready for it, and the only second thought I had about it was that he might already be too far gone for it to matter. He had one xbow maxed and the other upgrading to lv 3...with lvl 5 heroes, lvl 4 hogs, and lvl 2 golems and lvl 7 walls. That's just not acceptable for a war clan. As someone said before, if you can't 3 star a base with lvl 2 infernos then a war clan doesn't want you to have lvl 2 infernos because war clans want 3 stars.

Hopefully you didn't waste too much time in this clan because you'll obviously be happier elsewhere.

So i farmed a few days ago, and filled my elixir and gold storage...seeing as how my archer towers are finished i started upgrading my inferno tower to level 2. Moments later a co-leader is angry at me because our war rank will be bumped up and we will be faced with tougher clans.

He demands that i cancel the upgrade or he will kick me....i leave!

Is it wrong for a clan to do this?

It means that clan are a bunch of cowards that only want easy fights.

Or he is a haggard leader tired of losing close wars and looking for a leg up, judging by all the posts there seem to be plenty of clans that are sure matchmaking is out to get them.

I am probably in the minority here but I don't understand all the complaining about people being treated badly in a clan. I can not believe that people can't find 9-14 real life friends to play this game with. When you do that the game is a lot of fun. Someone upgrades early you bust his chops for a bit then he catches up. Everyone had fun in razzing the guy and he got his upgrade he desperately wanted. Yeah you had a few slightly tougher match ups along the way but it's all in good fun and you all enjoyed the GAME.

I think it depends on the exact circumstances.

If you're upgrading your defenses and can't three-star your opponent, then you just aren't being smart. At that point, you're a liability to your clan, and leadership is justified in removing you.

The problem is, your defense upgrades impact your entire clan. So if you can't hold your own, then maybe you should heed good advice and hold off on upgrades. This is especially true if your heroes and walls suck.

Thankfully I'm in a full time war clan that understands the importance of weighing less but hitting heavy. We have 5 TH9's that will remain bow-less until they have lvl 15 Royals and lvl 9 walls. At the moment they have maxed TH8 defences and are working on strike first, defend second.

The leader of a clan has a right to kick any player that he/she wants for any reason... Or quite simply, no reason at all.

You can acquire 6 stars in war but give up only 3. Good luck with your clan search and base... Hopefully you find something you are happy with.

I would have left too. The point of the game is to progress and grow. Where's the fun in war if you're just facing the same kind of people each and every time? I like going up against stronger people.

We had a member trying to tell everyone not to upgrade anything that you don't NEED. Like don't upgrade more than 1 barracks, and storages etc. says every little thing leads to a harder match. We shut him down pretty quick tho, told him to stop trying to control people and that telling people not to progress in a game like this was the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

if people want to hold off on defence upgrades until they're higher in offence, that's understandable because they have a legit reason.

I don't really get why. As long as your offense and defense is upgraded evenly you'll be fine. I have max infernos and max xbows, and my #2 in clan has a mid th9 base. All are wars so far (7) have been 1 th10 rest th9 and below. Th10 almost always having lvl 1 and rarely lvl 2 xbow. Building an inferno tower will be a big difference. Upgrading won' be nearly as much.

No it wasnt wrong for him to kick you coz hes the leader and its his decision to kick members..
But it was good for you that he kicked you because it will hurt his clan a lot and he deserves it.

Kicking somone for upgrading defenses? That sounds ridiculous in itself
