Is it wrong for a clan leader to ban defense upgrades for war purposes?

So i farmed a few days ago, and filled my elixir and gold storage...seeing as how my archer towers are finished i started upgrading my inferno tower to level 2. Moments later a co-leader is angry at me because our war rank will be bumped up and we will be faced with tougher clans.

He demands that i cancel the upgrade or he will kick me....i leave!

Is it wrong for a clan to do this?

Wrong? No. But a policy like that should be spelled out when you first join, not thrown at you after you've already spent the money.

Unless you knew about the policy before you started the upgrade?

He certainly has no right to tell you what to do that's for sure. You were right in leaving, don't need that kind of filth leading you. If he's afraid of tougher matchups just because you are upgrading infernos to level 2, he clearly just stinks at war.

I think it was an overreaction, yes. I believe that if he has a problem with people progressing in the game, he needs to suck it up and get over hiself.

There is no point in doing that, I think he was just angry or something. First of all because it would only be 1 better guy. On the other hand, it take longer than 3 days to upgrade. So honestly people don't know what the heck they're thinking. So just don't join a stupid clan like that, that makes you cancel an inferno tower upgrade.

Clans can be run however the leader/coleaders want to run them, so there is no right/wrong way. I have a rule in my clan that if you cannot reliably 3 star bases with your level of defenses, you are out of war till you can, proven by normal replays and discussing strategy in our wars. War is a team event; if you become a liability to the war clan and they see you as such, sure, you can be kicked and there is nothing wrong with that. Just find a clan who doesn't mind you developing your base as you see fit.

Once you have the defense the effects of upgrading it, in my understanding, are minimal. It of course is anfactor but Its much more effective to not build the defense building in the first place.

So my opinion is he wasnt necessarily wrong but more silly and misinformed.

pretty cruddy thing to do. tyrannical even.

as a leader, I advise on what my members should do next if they ask. otherwise, its their account and they can upgrade what they want, when they want. If they draw a tougher opponent, then we have a bigger challenge. Seriously, why are so many players doing everything they can to get easy opponents in war?

My friend is constantly harassed by his clan co-lead/leader for this (we stay in touch thru kik). I joined his clan for war once and witnessed it for myself. Told him to cancel his inferno upgrade to 3. Playing dumb, I asked why he would do such a thing. And of course, he explains the war matches. I asked him if he was high. His answer was hilarious.

"No just have a lot of clash experience."

I don't think he was too amused by mine, however.

"I beg to differ."

His clan mates got a kick out of it though. Then I wished them luck and left.

My friend is still in the clan, upgrading at will. They do well in wars.

I guess everyone is happy....until they start to accumulate some losses? Which case, I a sure they will blame his infernos.
