"Son of the Barbarian King and Archer Queen, the prince was once a great warrior until he was struck down in combat by an inferno tower's flames. Summoned by the King and Queen to help their son as he lay dying, a group of wizards utilized the power of dark elixir to bring their son back from the fringe of death. Instead of returning him to his original state, the dark elixir moulded into his body, still burning with the infernos flames, to make him stronger than ever before. Now, with the ability to manipulate and mimic the infernos flames, the Inferno Prince rises to strike fear into the eyes of his enemies and exact his revenge."
Yesterday I created a thread regarding a new dark barrack troop called the Fire Mage. After giving it some thought, I decided the idea could also be a great and unique Hero idea as well. The stats of course will be a bit different plus an idea would be necessary for his ability.
Attack:
The Inferno Prince's attack would essentially have two parts. The first is the initial attack which would resemble closely the single target inferno tower. He will shoot a stream of fire towards the nearest building and the stream would start at a low dps but will increase drastically the longer it hits its mark. The second part of the attack would be 2 streams of fire that ricochet off the initial target to attack buildings or troops nearby. This part of the attack would resemble the multi-target inferno tower attack and its streams of fire would have a considerably lower dps and it would not increase over time.
Ability:
At the players request, he/she can activate the Inferno Princes' special ability, Surge, which would temporarily increase the hero's attack power and regain a portion of his health. No units will be spawned. This would look as if a ball of fire surges from the hero through the stream and to the building or unit it is attacking.
Leveling up:
The hero would start at lvl 1 with a low dps for both parts of his attack as well as limited ricochet streams, probably 2 streams extending off the first attack and as his level grows, the number of streams would increase as well. For instance, lvl 1-4 would have 2 streams (no ability), 5-9 2 streams (Surge unlocked at 5), 10-19 3 streams, 20-29 4 streams, 30-39 5 streams, 40 6 streams. Additionally, the heroes stats would increase as well each level up but this increase would be limited considering the heroes power is already highly destructive. I see the health of the hero increasing more than the dps. For example, a hero leveled up to 20 might receive a 1 dps increase on the initial stream, a 3 increase for the ricochet, but a 25 hp increase. The Inferno Prince should have health very much similar to the Archer Queen since, like the Queen, his attack is very powerful.
Statsstats are what the hero would have a lvl 1 with the exception of the ability stats unlocked at lvl 5)
HP: 700
DPS (Initial attack): 10-800
Range: 5 tiles
DPS (Ricochet): 15
Range: 3 tiles
Surge: 50% attack power increase
Duration: 5 seconds
Target: Ground and Air
Favorite Target: Any (closest)
Offense:
The Inferno Prince has multiple uses in a variety of attacks. While he has a high dps for his initial attack, its important to remember that this takes time to generate an over powerful attack so he must be protected in much the same way the queen is protected in battles. Place him behind golems or giants for maximum destruction or lure out cc troops and use him to aid in taking out swarms of archers or witches' skeletons. Once inside the base, the Inferno Prince wreaks havoc on defenses grouped tightly together and his surge ability gives him the power to greatly cripple a difficult interior of a persons base. For raiding, the Inferno Prince would do well against bases that group their storages together. The Inferno Prince would also do well aiding in taking out those pesky skeleton traps that give so many so much trouble.
Defense:
On defense, the range of this hero to be lured should be greatly reduced from the AQ or BK. If it is possible the single target should be taken away completely for defense and have just the multi-target capability and the number of streams consistent with his level (Not sure if that is necessary but it seems having a 3rd inferno with both single and multi-target power would in fact be over powerful so reducing him a bit on defense i think would be a good thing). Place him near the interior of a base, behind walls to roast enemies coming through your defenses. Careful though. This heroes range is limited and AQ's or wiz could take him out fast.
Weaknesses:
Like the Archer Queen, the Inferno Prince is susceptible to longer range units like xbows, cannons, and archer towers. Since his range is half that of archer towers, cannons and infernos and maximum range if you include his ricochet attack, that is only 8 tile range with the weakest part of his attack extending to 8, 5 tile range for the strongest part of his attack. If he is grouped in an area with non-important buildings he must destroy but within range of these defenses, he will go down fairly quickly.
Summary:
To conclude, this new hero blends the wishes of many to have a new Wizard like hero with the uniqueness that everyone wants in a hero. I do not believe he will be overly powerful and I think to ensure this he should be a hero unlocked at TH9 or 10 only. His reduced damage and range prevents him from being an overwhelming hero; His reduced HP ensures that he is no where near the tank the Barbarian King is. Seeing as how most of the new updates cater to defense in clash of clans with the exception of getting a new troop, defending your base is getting easier while nothing is really being done to offset this. With TH11 on the horizon and with it probably more walls, defenses, higher level defenses, a hero that utilizes the power of an inferno tower might be the very thing that takes us to the next level of clashing.
Thank you for reading. Please post comments, concerns, questions down below and I will try to answer them. Dont just say this is "OP" without justifying your reasoning considering I spent a great deal of time dispelling that notion in the transcription above.
