You should learn how to funnel those balloons to get those AD as soon as possible. Don't drop all loons on one side and hope that those loons will get on those pesky AD. Try pentalavaloon or quadrolavaloon. There are many lavaloonion 3 star attack strategy in youtube. You can learn from those.

Experienced my biggest embarrassment today in clan war. Used pentalavaloon on 2 th9s with lvl 6 ADs. One even had x-bows set to ground! And only got one star on both. In one, balloons bunched up, and in the other spread out too much. Working on strategic drops but doesn't make much difference vs spamming 2 sides in my experiences.

My best results, 2 stars, have been using 4 lavas, 20 minions, and rest loons. I need to work on using golems and heroes to take out AQ and cc, however my heroes are lvl 10 and 5, so they haven't been much help yet.

I'm sitting out every other war to minimize my abject shame. Lol
